AUM SAI RAM

“I do not accost one particular date in the calendar as MY Birthday, for I consider the day when Divinity blossoms in your heart as MY Birthday in you”- Sri Sathya Sai Baba – Gems of Wisdom-p435.

Baba explains to us, His adoring devotees that He is born in us when we put His teachings into practice, we translate His message into acts of service and we engage in sadhana.

With the above in mind, I put off the light and went to bed on Sunday 22nd November last. Our Sai Centre had organized ‘Suprabhatam’ and ‘Nagar Sankirtan’ at 5 am on Monday 23rd to mark the Auspicious Birthday of Our Precious Lord, Sri Sathya Sai Chandra Bhagawan. I had to participate at all costs, I told myself. I do wake up every morning to recite the ‘Suprabhatam’, but as far as ‘Nagar Sankirtan ‘is concerned, I obviously can’t do it by myself.  ‘Nagar Sankirtan’ is done in a group, singing bhajans and walking in the streets adjoining the Centre in the early hours of the day.

I set the alarm on my mobile phone at 4 am, taking into consideration the 15 minutes’ drive from home to the Centre. I remembered to skip the pain killer I am taking for sciatica pain in my left leg, lest I over slept.

Voila!  I am dreaming that, in the darkness of my room, a very bright light is illuminating the ‘Lingobhavakara’ picture of Baba on the wall. In the dream, I opened my eyes and I saw that the picture had turned into the picture of Baba with His Hands raised in Abhayahasta. As a matter of fact, the Abhayahasta picture is in my prayer room. I woke up in a jerk…Lo! Bhagawan Baba was physically in my room with His Hands raised in Blessing. I sat up and could feel my whole body shaking. I was spell bound! Nothing was said or done; we just looked at each other. The ‘Sudarshana’- 'Holy Vision' lasted a split second…

The before last time, I had a Holy Vision of Bhagawan Baba was in June 2004, when He touched me and cured me of breast cancer.

We are all blessed!
