Guest guest
In the heart of the wild forest infested with wild animals, is a tiny lonesome hamlet of Yelugalaballa, a village with 145 families. What more could be said about the abject penury that prevailed there, that the poor people had to wee up the meager Govt. grant of Rs.2000/- meant for constructing toilets to buy rice, in order to sustain themselves for probably a few more days. The plight of these forsaken people did not escape the watchful eyes of the old students of Bhagavan, who are always on an eager hunt for a chance to serve the people selflessly. The boys grabbed this opportunity and after equipping themselves with 30 sacks of rice, enough clothing for all and not to forget Bhagawan's beautiful photographs, to be given to the people there, embraced on the seva sojourn. As per the plan each of the 30 households, was to get a bag of rice, a saree, a pair of shirt & Pant, a bed sheet or a towel as the case would be and of course a big picture of Bhagawan. Precision presides over the seva activities and therefore all the items were carefully counted to match the needs of exactly 30 families. By Bhagawan's grace, the seva went on perfectly well but for a testing moment that came at the very end of the day. A poor widow with two little children turned up on the scene and requested for her share of articles. This was the 31st family, which was not accounted for in the earlier survey. The lady stayed a little far away from the village and therefore her house went unnoticed by the volunteers. Even as the boys were thinking of asking all the villagers to share their rice with the 31st family, some one came running to the boys and reported that they need not worry anymore, for there is yet another rice bag in the vehicle. "How could that be?" exclaimed another person who was extremely confident of loading exactly '30' bags of rice in to the vehicle. Yes, He was absolutely right for all the 30 bags of rice that were carefully counted and loaded were brown jute sacks. But the mysterious 31st bag that was found in the vehicle was a white Polypropylene bag with the mark of 'SSS'. "Sri Sathya Sai" had sent an extra bag for that extra family in an extraordinary way. The villagers …..? After the seva, the boys did return back to Puttaparthy as usual, but with a memory of love in their hearts to cherish forever.
