By the grace of our beloved Appaji the NJ BalaDatta celebrated their Annual day

on Saturday, June 6 th , 2009.

The standing ovation in honor of Sangeetha Vidwamani, Veena Vaadana Chathura,

Shri Ayyagari Syamasundaram by the hundred plus audience bore testimony to the

high quality of programs organized and executed by the NJ BalaDatta group on 06

th June 2009. As Shri Syamsundaram played four of Swamiji’s bhajans, the spell

bound devotees listened with rapt attention, unmindful of the clock, which had

ticked well past ten at night. Shri Swamiji had manifested this grand finale

through the magical and mercurial hands of Shri Syamasundaram on the Veena for

the third BalaDatta anniversary celebrations in New Jersey.

The Selvams inaugurated the celebrations at 4 PM by lighting the lamp. Selvam

garu remembered the times when he acted in dramas, playing the role of a

beautiful girl when he was a kid. Sreeram introduced the BalaDatta to the

audience and encouraged the parents to continue to devote more time to the kids.

Vikram enlightened the audience on concept of Sri Chakra, Navavarna kritis and

Swamiji’s Tripura Bhajans. The central theme of the evening was Tripura,

presented as dances and Bhajans of the Nava Avarana Kritis of Sri Swamiji,

ending with the Maha mangala Arathi and the audience rocking the divine mother

in a beautifully decorated cradle.

BalaDatta Group 1 (children below 5) presented slokas, bhajans, and

Dasavatharam. Dasavatharam was a fancy dress parade for these little angels. The

ten avataras looked cute in their attires and their gestures evoked spontaneous

laughter. The hard work put in by the children, teachers, and parents over the

past few months was greatly appreciated by one and all.

Bal Datta Group 2 (children between 5 and 12) rendered slokas, bhajans, and even

performed yoga on stage. Shanmukha was prominent as the lone boy amongst the

eight girls in this group. At the awards ceremony, he quipped that he was in

control of the group.

BalaDatta Group 3 (children above 12) sang bhajans, and enacted a skit on

Sodasopachara Puja, that detailed the pooja vidhanam. They also recited the

Vishwanathashtkam, which was in sync with a fabulous power point presentation

they had put together for the event. Their talent, dedication, and hard work

earned a long lasting applause from the audience.

There were presentations from Ambika Raman Dance Academy, Kalyani's Veena

School, Sangeet Music School, Kalaprerana Music and Dance School, Ananda

Bhairavi Music School, which added further flavor to this truly memorable

BalaDatta evening.

The BalaDatta teachers are truly versatile singers, and their talent was clearly

evident from their bhajans’ recitals. Suffice it to say that our children are

in the able and accomplished hands of the BalaDatta teachers.

Awards and certificates were sponsored by Meghnath Chavva and presented to each

and every participant. The stage decoration was stupendous. There were slides

detailing every activity as the program progressed. Ram Lanka kept the audience

enthralled all through the program with his ready wit and humor. The program

co-ordination, sound, light, and projection system, volunteer work, food

arrangements etc all were flawless and of very high quality.

And to top it all, the Veena recital by Shri Syamasundaram touched many a heart

and rightly deserved an impromptu standing ovation. Shri Syamasundaram had

followed his father’s footsteps and learnt to play the Veena from age eight.

Shri Swamiji’s vision for BalaDatta is – “To make children grow

spiritually and inspire them to be good human beingsâ€. With Shri Swamiji’s

blessings, we are absolutely confident that the BalaDatta kids will follow their

parents and Guru’s footsteps and will act as good messengers for times to

come.
