Sai Ram Dear Reet

Thank you for reading my article regarding Sai Baba Community gives Gift of Vinson to villagers and also for posting the article to all the readers of Saibaba news. This is part of the Seva in itself and your contribution towards serving our dear Lord by letting other people know that we can do a lot for the needy when our dear Sai Maa has gifted us with everything especially vision.

My husband and I have established a project called The Sai Baba Community Service Project in Tanzania to serve the needy in the local villages. We have lived in the UK for twenty five years and now we have moved to Arusha in Tanzania in a aim to work for Sai Baba. We have started doing Swami's work two years ago and Swami has supported us all the way and has also taught us how to do our job properly without discriminating or hurting anybody in any way. We have

set one day free for Swami's work where we go to villages, hospitals and serve the sick and the needy. However, sometimes we have to run around for days to take the sick to hospital and provide medical, physical and emotional support. We also go to their homes to provide physical help if the elders or sick living alone. In case if the person dies, we support the family of the deceased till the funeral is done. Most people are very poor and cannot afford to bury their dead. In fact all our time is devoted for our Lords work first and we put all our personal work second. In return we get peace, happiness and total bliss and tons of love from all the Narayanas that we serve.

I would like to share a case study of a child who came to the Eye Camp. The child is partially sighted and has lost vision in one eye and is about to lose his second eye and will become completely blind in few years time if he doesn't get treatment in time. The child called Mohamedi who is 10 years old. He lost his one eye and the other eye is badly damaged and has very little vision due to the strong dose of Malaria drug given to him seven years ago. The mother is very poor and has other three children to support so she was not able to pay for the treatment and the child was left without any treatment for seven years. She came to our eye camp and explained her grief and requested us to help her. The doctors were not able to help the child and he was referred to other specialist hospital run by the Christian Mission called KCMC in

Moshi and Tanzania where the child was admitted first and got very little treatment when he was three years old.

We were told that the child has very slim chance of restoring his eye sight and that they are referring him to main specialist hospital where the child was admitted seven years ago. We were devastated to hear this because if the child did not get help when he was admitted when he needed eye treatment, what are the doctors going to do? But as the mother of the child has full faith in us and thinks that we can do miracles we agreed to take the child to the hospital. In many occasions Swami has come personally to help us to help the needy. So now the villagers think that we can do anything and will not let them down. Villagers are from all different faiths but love our Sai Baba as HE is the biggest hope for them. They call Sai Baba " Rafiki ya masikini " (friend of poor) in their

native language. However, we have total faith in our Swami and we know that our Sai is the biggest doctor and he can cure anybody.

Our first step was to sit in front of our Sai Baba and beg him to come with us to hospital and to get the positive response from the specialists. The mother was given eye drops every time she went this hospital so she was very worried. So my husband and I decided to take the child to the hospital. The doctors checked the child's eyes and we were told that he will need plastic surgery to reverse the damage done to both eyes but may be only one eye will be saved. We were very delighted and thanked our Lord for such and excellent response. We all became very emotional and could not help crying as we felt the Divine presence all around us. Even the mother of the child was in tears and said that I knew that Sai Baba will come to help. We were told to go back on

29th of September 08 for plastic surgery as the specialist Eye Surgeons are coming from Europe who will perform the surgery. Now lets all guess who has invited the Surgeons from Europe!!!!! and we all know that who is going to perform the surgery don't we? Yes our Swami himself as he has done it so many times before.

Mohamedi is very lively and has excellent future dreams. He is in class four and enjoys studying all the subjects. His favorite subject is Science. He enjoys playing football and is a great fan of Chelsea football team. He says his wish is to get a T-shirt for Chelsea football team and wants his own football that he can play any time.. He also expressed his grief that he is discriminated at school by his classmates and also teachers do not understand his helplessness. He adds that even at home no one wants to be his friend. He is very isolated and suffers from depression.

I pray to all our Sai brothers and sisters to pray for Mohamedi that his Eye Surgery is successful and that he gets his eye sight back even at least in one eye so that he can enjoy living his life and also can fulfill his future dreams.

Light and Love

As a part of the Sai Baba Community Service Project charity program and prior to Sathya Sai Baba's 83rd Birthday on 23rd November, the Community has organised Eye Camps to help people who suffer from eye problems and cannot afford to have treatment.

The project has managed to organise two Eye Camps in two months. The first Eye Camp took place in July this year and the second in August.

Both Eye Camps were organised in association with The New Century Lions Club of Arusha. The first Eye Camp was held at the junctions of Kilimanjaro International Airport and more than 300 people from neighbouring villages attended it.

Patients were given specialist treatment, medicine and glasses free of charge. More than 15 people needed Cataract Operation and were referred to Specialist Eye Hospitals.

Six of the elderly people from Lemara, Themi and Kijenge who needed Cataract Operation were referred to Meru District Hospital in Tengeru and were assured by the project of full post operation care.

The elders who were operated on got their vision back and thanked the organisers of the charity for their initiative.

After the outcome from the first Eye Camp, the project had a second Eye Camp in Njiro Container on 24th August in association with The New Century Lions Club of Arusha and with the help of Engutoto Councillor Mr. Alfred Mollel, the Ward Executive Officer Mr. Kitumbo and other Ward officers.
