Control switch - Spiritual

                                      AUM SAI RAMHumble pranams at the Lotus Feet of our Beloved Bhagavan.Dear Saibandhus, Loving SaiRam to all.

 

  We have with us the control switch of the electric incandescent tube  in our house. If we put the switch on, the light comes into the room and darkness in the room disappears. If we put the switch off, the light disappears and darkness comes back. Howsoever times we put the switch on and off those many times light appears/darkness disappears and light disappears/ darkness appears respectively. 

 

God has conferred on every human being a spiritual switch which can be operated to get both spiritual ecstasy and mundane sorrow. We have the same freedom to operate the spiritual switch as we have that for the electric tube light. When we want light in the room we put the switch on.  However, if we are afraid of or hesitate to operate the switch due to the scare of electric shock, we will be in darkness continuously. If we are not afraid and  put the switch on then we can enjoy the brightness of the light. 

 

  Similarly  with the spiritual switch. Spiritual switch is the  " Atmavichara " -- Inquiry into the soul.  Putting on the spiritual switch means doing the Atmavichara such as " I AM NOT THIS BODY OR MIND OR INTELLECT OR EGO. I AM THE ETERNAL  BLISSFUL  ATMAN,  LIKE THE WAVES OF SEA RAISES UP FROM IT AND REMAINS ABOVE FOR SOME TIME AND FALLS BACK IN THE SEA AND MERGES INTO IT, I (THE ATMAN) WHICH BELONG TO PARAMATMAN, APPEARS TO BE SEPARATED FROM PARAMATMAN AND AFTER A LONG LONG TIME OF THIS SEPARATION  MERGES BACK IN PARAMATMAN. I AM THAT "   And this Atmavichara will make one happy , courageous, confident etc.and finally leads to Truth. Swami is emphasising on this Truth in almost all His discourses and has been advising us to practice it as a Sadhana.  Hence, if we put this spiritual switch on, we can get abundant happiness because it is the Reality. If we put this Spiritual switch off, the spiritual ecstasy will be lost and the worldly worries will come back which is the unreality. 

  

Atmavichara is not just limited to thinking that I am the Atman, it extends to all other matters we see and  think. That means we should think that  whomsoever  we see and  whatsoever  we think  are also Atman. To so happen  experientially , it may  take more time depending on the individual Sadhana, individual karmas and  finally Sad guru's Grace- -  ( like the incandescent tube will not give light as soon as the switch is put on, but will give light after flickering for some time.)
