                                   AUM SAI RAM

Humble pranams at the Lotus Feet of our beloved Bhagavan.

Dear Saibandhus,

Loving Sai Ram to all.

On 14th January at 21.20hrs. I and my wife boarded a bus from satellite bus stand at Bangalore bound for my hometown. We were on an emergency travel to attend the funeral ceremony of a relative of mine who had passed away just after attaining a rare age of 101 years. I had occupied a seat in the bus near a window. There was still 15 minutes for the departure of our bus. There were two buses parked on either side of our bus. I was casually looking my left side through the window. Suddenly i realised that our bus was moving forward slowly. I was happy that at last our bus had commenced the journey. Our bus was moving smoothly without any noise. Casually i looked through the window on my right side. I was surprised to see the same bus which was stationed at our right side still remaining stationary at the same place and that our bus had not even moved an inch. Then immediately i looked to my left side; i felt our bus was moving forward smoothly. More surprised, i looked to my right side; the bus to my right and our bus  remained at the same positions. I did a few time the exercise of looking to my left and right sides. Whenever  i looked to the left side, our bus was moving and when looked to right side our bus was standstill. Immediately i understood that it was a deception, a figment of my imagination--- because the driver of the bus on our left side was slowly reversing his bus, which induced a wrong feeling that our bus was moving forward, whereas the bus parked on our right side was actually stationary and hence i felt our bus remained stationary which was the fact. But the experience of our bus moving soundless and smooth was so exhilarating.

Then my mind started analysing my experience of pleasure ( while the bus moved) and displeasure ( while the bus was standstill). Though in fact standstill,  i experienced a movement, contrary to the fact. That deceptive movement had happened so naturally and suddenly-- because i was looking at the wrong side-- that i was not cognizant of the same  immediately and fell a prey for the deception. The deception was understood--only because i looked at the right and opposite side-- when i became cognizant of the fact and then i became free from deception.

Similar and more deceptive experiences may have been experienced by many people travelling in trains which are lengthy, when their trains are standstill and waiting at station for crossing of some other trains. When the traveller seated on the stationary train  looks at the speeding train passing by his side, he experiences that his train is moving. Only when he looks at the opposite side, the fact that his train is stationary is realised.

Is not the Maya-- illusion-- talked and discussed so prominently in spirituality  is similar to the above examples?. When a tiny incidence like the above can create a small illusion, then how powerfully cast  would be the MAYA of GOD, the spiritualists discuss about so often?  Hence the scriptures elaborate on decoding the Maya by taking up right sadhana -- to look at the Real side-- so that Maya or illusion which is the biggest and strongest veil or curtain  between we and God can be removed. As in the case of experience of the bus  the reality was known when the correct direction was taken leaving the false direction, similarly the non-reality of the Jagrat state of this world also could be realised by looking at the correct direction of spirituality leaving the wrong worldly direction.

We feel that the enjoyment of this world is real and permanent.  When we awake from the state of sleep to Jagrat state -- when we live in between Jagrat and Swapna states--, we  understand that the dream experienced during sleep was false but unaware while in sleep and know that this world is real.  Similarly man can realise that this Jagrat state is also a dream and false,--- when man lives in between Jagrat and THURIYA states--- when he ascends to the state of THURIYA.  Through our effort in the right direction initially and by the Grace of God finally, we can attain that state.

Let us humbly pray our Swami to Bless us to Realise the TRUTH.

  Sai Ram.
