Re: [saibabanews] Prayer...

Dear SaiRam Brother,

Your question itself has the answer. We are not doing business with our Lord. We

have to surrender to Him, and should not have - but, if, etc., You shouild not

have a will of your own. That is called surrender. Only when you surrender, God

will take over, and shower mercy and help you.

Your SaiRam Brother,

K.S.Ananda Kumar.

Sai Ram Brother and Sisters,

You have a very interesting question.... I guess sometimes we do the extra

things to actually satisfy ourself . We are not doing business with God..... by

doing this extra we are actually reminding ourself of Baba's grace. Its the

individuls way of saying thank you.... He is always there.... when ever you call

for him.

RE: [saibabanews] Prayer...

Sairam,

It is not at all a right thing to visit GOD or GURU for a favour. It is true that

most of the rich and wealthy people have darshan of GOD for matearialistic

favours and to free them from all sorts of troubles, problems but in my

experoience the poor, downtrodden and the rural people never desire or aspire for

any materialistic benefits but the love of GOD and GURU as they are not bothered

to emass wealth, increase in bank balance and developing properties but they

desire the property of GOD and his love to be with them till their last breath.

The right form of prayer is to seek and aspire for the love of Swami and pray

that Swami be always with us,in us,above us,below us and around us spreading the

fragrance of HIS LOVEand blessing us for a spiritual and blissful life

irrespective of good, bad and ugly situations of our lives. If Swami is with us

where is the need to worry? So let us pray for Swami's love till our last

breath.

Sairam,

In Sai seva,

JP Reddy.

Sai Ram All,

" Is it right to Demand God or Guru that if you do me a favour I will visit your

place or perform pooja? "

Yes this question of business bargain often crops in the mind of a sadhaka. We

are the embodiments of God Almighty - so we should be full of confidence to ask

God of anything. while doing our part of the duty - devotional worship.

The moment we put a business proposition in this we reduce the level of devotion

to zero.

And believe me, when i say - You do your duty with the loving earnestness and He

(GOD) will do his duty to take care of you - who are His child.

Have you looked at a picture of God - as a simple paper picture only or as God

Himself showing Himself to you. Even educated people reduce God to a picture -

only a devoteee raises a picture to God level with his devotion.

There is no physical excersise in raising the picture to level of God. It is the

way we look at the picture, the thoughts that come to our mind when are seeing

that picture ~ it is the power of our thoughts that we raise a picture to His

Level.

Billions of people and animals and inert things are there in the universe. Gods

autumation keeps track of each and every of these billions and when such spread

out is the network - God is present everywhere. That is Omniresent - present at

all times and all places.

You are not distant of away from God that you have to ask - He knows you

innermost desires - let Him do His work ~ YOU do your devitional work - All are

one, be alike to everyone. Love All Serve ALL.

Sai Ram ~ Be Happy

CHAPTER 31

Devotion arises where desires dies. The one that expects his devotion to

be able to fulfill his worldly desires is not the free bird that flies with the

wings of the self, but is the one that has clipped its wings in the deluded

state of consciousness - Yes! Conscious, yet no conscience. In truth, My

dears, he lies asleep yet, he believes himself to be fully awake in his dreams

of his worldly attachments. Know that the path for the fulfillment of your

worldly desires lies opposite to that of devotion. Devotion, O child, is the

upliftment when one renounces worldly desires. Desire is one's greed to acquire

at any cost, which will bring with it the downfall of man's spiritual quest. In

devotion, lies selflessness and surrender - Yes! A love that is given

unconditionally - A love that cannot be purchased by any temptation - A love

that promises service to its Master and thrives in the bliss of its given task.

Desire is selfish and possessive and grips its victim in the suffocating hold of

chaos, hatred, jealousy, envy and complete insecurity. This is a love that

holds a price tag and is addicted and dependent upon being served - a love that

expects, far more, than it is ever able to give.

The man that lives buried in the pit of his deluded desires, struggles to

attain sincere love and devotion for his true mother. The child is under the

influence of drugs and alcohol, will, at first, defy his parents, deny them, and

dance in his new found intoxication, unaware of his own destruction. He will

form addictions, he will associate himself with complete losers, he will cheat,

steal, and abuse his loved ones, for he is only consumed by his very own

addictions. Once he has fallen so much that he is unable to rise, he will then

cry the tears of helplessness, he will then deplore his very own nature, he will

be disgusted by his own dependence and weakness, he will begin to flinch away

from the very same companions that he associated himself with, and he will

finally crave to be back home in the arms of his loving mother that will accept

him, at any time, unconditionally, with the hope that he will finally change and

will become a part of her once again.

You, My dears, are that deluded child that I must watch with pain in My

heart. Yes! I am the mother that must wait with patience, until I hear you

call My name. I am the mother that must have the courage to watch and witness

your every downfall, until you realize that you have sunken and suffocated your

true identity. I am the mother that must believe and have faith in your change,

even if you have given up. I am the mother that weeps and awaits for you to

call Me, " Mother " .

Until you develop a disgust for your worldly dependence, until you

realize the shallowness of your worldly aspirations, until you come upon the

limitations of your own knowledge, until you recognize the fakeness of your own

expectations, and until you are filled with the inspiration to purify your very

own nature, devotion for the Supreme Being will not arise. Until you will not

see Me as perfection, you, My dears, will not aspire to be with Me, at all

times. I cannot be your ideal, if you worship Me as a mere idol. I can become

your only love, only when all your love becomes Me. Overcome your desires and

come over to experiencing devotion.

[saibabanews] Prayer...

Dear Saibrother.

Sairam.

There is nothing wrong in placing the difficulties before SaiMatha/God/Guru,

whom you

may trust/believe, without any conditions. In my opinion,we also make certain

efforts to

achieve certain goals, believing that the Almighty be always with

us(Omnipotent/Omnipresent). We should never blame the Almighty, if you do not

success.God is only a witness. If you trust the GOD or GURU wholeheartedly with

LOVE, leave it to HIM, He will definitely take care off.We should never have an

inch of doubt (doubting Thomas?!).We can achieve it by doing SADHANA, as put by

Bhagwan Baba.

The following Prayer is common to all denizens :

Morning Prayer: OH LORD, I AM BORN FROM THE WOMB OF SLEEP. I AM DETERMINED TO

CARRY OUT ALL THE TASKS THIS DAY AS OFFERINGS TO THEE, WITH THE EVER PRESENT

BEFORE MY MIND'S EYE. MAKE MY WORDS, THOUGHTS AND DEEDS SACRED AND PURE.LET ME

INFLICT NO PAIN ON ANYONE, LET NO-ONE INFLICT PAIN ON ME. DIRECT ME, GUIDE ME

THIS DAY.

Evening Prayer (before sleep)

OH LORD, THE TASKS OF THIS DAY WHOSE BURDEN I PLACED ON YOU THIS MORNING ARE

OVER. IT WAS YOU WHO MADE ME WALK, TALK, THINK AND ACT. I THEREFORE PLACE AT THY

FEET " ALL MY WORDS, THOUGHTS AND DEEDS. MY TASK IS DONE. RECEIVE ME. I AM COMING

BACK TO YOU.

Re: [saibabanews] Prayer...

AUM SAI RAM

Dear Saibandhu,

my humble prostrations at the Lotus Feet of Bhagavan.

i wish to write which i feel right regarding whether or not it is right to

demand favour from God or Guru.

Putting a condition that one will visit God's place or perform pooja, only if

God does a favour is improper as it would be making business with God, as you

have opined rightly. Till one understands or realizes that God Loves him/her,

one can pray God for favours of right kind.

There are several types of Prayer. They are,

1. Conditional prayer for favours --This is in fact is not a prayer, but a deal,

a promise,a business. In this type he/she initially puts a condition to God

that he would perform a pooja or visit place of God,only if God does him a

favour. This is an inferior type. This is business like, a business

relationship with God. There is no love involved here. When the approach is

businesslike, the result is also businesslike, both parties don't want to loose.

If the man is calculative, God is more calculative.[ If the person is not

calculative God also is not calculative]. Sometimes God may not even venture

it, of course ones previous karmas and karmaphalas also may play a role here.

2. Unconditional Prayer for favours---- This is in fact a request or plead put

forth. In this type he or she prays God for favour, like children who pleads

parents for fulfilling their wishes. If the wishes are fulfilled, the child

loves its parents, if they are not met with the child don't love the parents and

sometimes may dislike also. Business mixed with love. Here a person does all

sorts of poojas, vows, pilgrimages etc. and pleads God to give the required

favours. If the wishes are fulfilled, he/she is more encouraged to do the

poojas, etc. vigorously. As parents love the children and fulfills some of their

wishes, God also loves the worshipper and fulfills some of their wishes. Since

selfishness is the motive for this type of prayer, it is not an higher type of

prayer, but better than conditional prayer. Therefore the result also has

limitations. This type of prayer don't take the person to higher type of

spirituality. As the wishes and desires are unlimited, there is no end to this

type of prayer and the cycle of desiring and fulfilling continues. So long the

desiring and fulfilling them continues, the cycle of births and deaths also

continue. Hence the very purpose of taking human birth for the Salvation is

defeated. Punarapi jannanam, Punarapi Maranam continues. The disadvantage in

this type is if many of the wishes are not fulfilled, the interest on God might

be lost. Also an advantage here is that very slowly the person may develop a

sort of liking for God and he/she may not always behind the complete fulfilment

of desires. Developing interest on God and loosing interest on God happens like

a sinusoidal curve in Trigonometry.

3. Prayer without expecting or minding for fulfillment of desires:.---This is an

higher type of Prayer. Here one prays for the love of God. He accepts whatever

God gives, happiness or unhappiness. His love for God doesn't decrease if the

desires are not fulfilled. He surrenders all his actions and their fruits to

God as preached by Bhagavan Shri Krishna in the Bhagavadgeetha.. However it

doesn't mean that the actions don't bear rewards or fruits. Every action

carried out, good or bad has consequences whether surrendered or not. The

difference is that it becomes a Yajna or Karma Yoga, if the actions and the

fruits thereof are surrendered to God. The Yajna bears more rewards. Here the

devotee ( here he/she becomes a devotee not a person) is not bound by the

consequences of his/her Karmas or actions. God takes complete care of such

Devotees as assured in the Geethopadesha. Even he/she becomes eligible for

Salvation. .

4. Praying to pay Gratitude to God:.- - -- Here the devotee is overwhelmed by

the love of God. He realizes that his/her very existence is due to the Grace of

God. He knows that God has given him so many benedictions unasked because of

the Love by God. He/she even doesn't know whether he/she is worthy of such

blessings. What else he/she can do, but be Grateful for ever? This attitude

reduces the distance between the Devotee and God. The Love of God reduces the

distance and the devotee feels the nearness of God.

5.Praying for salvation:-----.Here the Devotee realises the fruitlessness of

struggle and efforts for earthly enjoyments. The devotee understands that this

earth is not his permanent dwelling place, it is only a temporary place. His/her

real and permanent dwelling place is in God, because he/she has come from God.

The devotee understands that he/she has received the priceless human birth after

taking repeated births in 64 lacks of species created by God and all these

millions or crores of years he was away from his True Home and True Mother. It

is very difficult even in the present birth to be away from home and the earthly

Mother and Father for long; how then is it possible to be away from the Real

Mother and Father for crores of years. When this realisation dawns, the devotee

prays earnestly and from the depth of heart to God to take him back in HIS lap

permanently. The devotee doesn't want anything other than God. God loves such

Devotees.HE may even grant the highest Salvation and make him/her free from the

cycles of births and deaths.

6. Not Praying:--- This is actually diametrically opposite to that Non-praying

to God by the non-believers or atheists. Atheists don't pray because they don't

believe in the Existence of God. But here the Devotee or to be precise a JNANI

doesn't pray in the conventional sense because he is always in Prayerful

attitude. His attitude is that of Prayerfulness. He and the Prayer is not

separate. Whatever he does is " Real Prayer " only. Whatever he does is in

conformity with " Sathya,Dharma,Shanthi,Prema and Ahimsa " . Whatever he acts is

in communion with God. His ego is completely dissolved and he is no more the

DOER. He is no more the Body, Mind, Intellect, Ego and Anthakarana ( BMIEA).

He is the ATMA. He is ONE with the God. He is the WITNESS to the acts of GOD.

Whatever happens through his BMEIA is only the Will or Sankalpa of God. He is

JEEVANMUKTHA, the one who is Liberated even while living in the present body,

till the body is dropped off.

Finally we can conclude that Praying to God with the business attitude

as written above is an inferior type. Praying God to get right desires

fulfilled is not wrong, but this should not create disliking of God if the

desires are not fulfilled. This type of prayer keeps God at some distance.

Praying for the salvation or to obtain God Himself and surrendering all the

actions and their fruits thereof to God is the Right type of Prayer. Here the

distance between the devotee and God is reduced gradually till arrival of a

point where no distance remains.

i hope the above may clear some of the doubts.

Sai Ram.

Yours Saibandhu,

Ranganatha.Rao.

offering Love to God? Everyone has some problem or the other. What is the right

form of Prayer? What is the Swami's message on this. Please reply. Thanks.
