Dear all,

"Manasa Bhajare Guru Charanam"

Pranams to lotus feet of swami for making me his instrument in writing this email to you and pray him to provide me the strength and thought to present this content.

Please follow the following link to download the interactive rudram learning audio mp3 file.

http://downloads.ziddu.com/downloadfile/3853962/03-Vol-2.MP3.html

If you want to play it online then use the "play" button on the same link to invoke an online player to stream it out for you.... The file size is too large to attach to the email and hence I have uploaded to a media sharing site. The interactive learning has

1. Guru teaching each verse of anuvaka of Namakam

2. Chorus of students following the Guru.

This MP3 should become the starting point of learning rudram.

Namakam has Eleven anuvakas. Each anuvaka is a collection of verses with a defined meaning. Rudram is manifestation of Lord Shiva. Each anuvaka is manifestation of his form and worshipping his form. There is one more anuvaka starting with "Triyambakam" - manifesting the essence

Vedam has

1. Anudhatam - lower pitched syllable Ex: Rudraya - Ru syllable is anudhatam

2. Udatham - Higher pitched syllable Ex: Bhagavathe ' - the syllable is udatham

3. Swaritham - double pitched syllable - Ex: midushe" - ushe syllable is a swaritham

4. Dheergham - the streched syllable - Ex: khamacharaaha - charaaha is a dheergham

These are called intonations. It is like music and we need to stress the syllable up- or down as per the intonation. Follow the interactive learning to know how to stress the syllables....

You can write to me if any information is needed.

Offering at his lotus feet,

Prem
