Guest guest Posted October 21, 2008 Report Share Posted October 21, 2008 Light and Love Express News Service (21 Oct 2008) declares from Bhubaneswar: Satya Sai Seva Organisation (SSSO), a charitable trust of Sri Satya Sai Baba, has offered to help out the flood-hit people by providing them houses in clusters. A delegation led by all-India SSSO president V. Srinivasan discussed the issue with Chief Secretary Ajit Kumar Tripathy here today. Later, the delegation met Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik. SSSO proposed to construct 1,200 pucca buildings for the flood-affected BPL families in the districts of Cuttack, Jagatsingpur, Kendrapara and Puri, State convenor Parsuram Sahu told mediapersons. The organisation today sought permission of the government to provide land free of cost for construction of housing colonies in the four districts. It has tentatively identified locations and the beneficiaries, Sahu said adding, SSSO only required the Government approval. Number of houses in a particular housing colony will depend on the size of the land available. The proposed colonies will have all the basic facilities including road, school, play ground, drinking water and sanitation. Each of the beneficiaries will be provided a two-bedroom house with kitchen, latrine and bathroom. Individual houses will be constructed over an area of 1,200 sq ft at a cost of Rs 1.5 lakh. It has planned to construct houses for 2,000 families. However, all depends on the availability of land, Sahu said and added that the Government is very enthusiastic about the proposal. If everything goes as per the plan, the projects will be launched on November 15 and will be completed in four months. Latest housing technologies will be used to make it cost-effective, he said.
