MANAKUNNAM KUNJUNNIKANIYAR

 

Mnakunnam Kunjunnikaniyar was one among the first devotee of Saibaba at Vaikom who got darshan of Baba at Puttaparthi. He was a connoisseur of Astrology. Once he was suffering from some abdominal problems. So he decided to consult Dr.Sankar Ram at pathirappally in Alleppey. He got up in the early morning after completing his daily routines he went to Vaikom Temple. He prayed to Mrthyujaya swaroopa to get rid of this disease. Then he moved

to ferry for his boat to Alleppey.

 

Dr.Sankar ram examined him thoroughly and he concluded that his medicine cannot cure him. He advised him to go to Saibaba.

Even though he had not prepared for a journey, he decided to go to Puttaparthi. He started his journey with an empty hand and unaware of the route. Except Malayalam and Sanskrit no other languages were known to him. He reached at Eranakulam Railway Station. At that time one messenger from the judge of High court was waiting for him to discuss some personal problems .He took him to his residence. After performing the “Prasna†he was rewarded with plenty of money and dropped at Railway Station.

 

He did not know the details of train and how to take the ticket.

He sat the bench with utter confusion. Then a young person with a smiling face approached him with help. He accompanied him in his journey till Peniconda. Then the young man disappeared.

 

Kaniyar reached Puttaparthi. After taking bath in Chitravathi he went to Prasanthinilyam. He sat there for Darshan of Saibaba.

He heard an announcement inviting him for an interview with Saibaba. He entered the room. He lost his words and even forgot his purpose of coming, at the first sight of swami. He offered Sashtanga Namaskaram at the lotus feet of Swami. Saibaba gave him Vibhuthi.With tears of joy and devotion he accepted the Vibhuthi and moved out of the room. Then only he thought that

he did not enquire how to take this Vibhuthi. He suddenly remembered about the Homoeo medicines. He assumes Saibaba as a Homoeo Doctor and decided to take the Vibhuthi as Homeo Medicine. He divided the Vibhuthi in to 8 equal halves and took one half in the morning and other in the evening. He returned to Vaikom. He felt some relief. He took the last packet of Vibhuthi after offering prayers at Vaikom Temple. He was completely cured from illness and he became hale and hearty.
