Guest guest
Sai Ram! Yet another Easwaramma day was celebrated in Delhi in a manner that brought to the fore both the innate and nurtured talents of the Balvikas kids as it did the dedication and perseverance of the Balvikas Gurus. The Satya Sai international center, which was buzz with rehearsal activities of children for the last many days, today wore a festive look with festoons and floral decorations to commemorate the Birthday of Maa Easwaramma, the chosen mother of our beloved Bhagawan. The dance-drama put on stage entitled “Vande Mataram” provided the audience with a glimpse of the depth of moral and value education that is imparted to children in the hundreds of Balvikas centers spread across the city. Be it Vedam chanting, the narration of the piece or the enactment of the play, the Balvikas kids demonstrated a rare finesse that was a joy to watch. The chief guest for this year’s celebration was the Honourable Minister for Railways, the inimitable Sri Lalu Prasad Yadav. Shri Lalu Prasad narrated his encounter with Bhagawan when he was overwhelmed with Swami’s love and concern towards him. In one of the interviews, Swami asked Sri Laluji as to which God he worshipped, he said it was Maa and immediately Swami created a chain with a locket of Maa in it and gave it to him. Laluji showed the chain with the locket to the audience which he wears constantly. The play “Vande Mataram” depicted as to how once should pay obeisance to the five Mathas (mothers) that one really has: Veda Matha, Goo Matha, Bhoo Matha, Deha Matha and the Desa Matha. The concept of Veda Matha was presented through the protective and enlightening power of the Gayatri Mantra which emanates from the Rig Veda. Of all the mantras, I am the Gayatri, so declares Lord Krishna in the Gita and no time is inauspicious to chant this mantra, though chanting it in the dawn, noon and the dusk are most beneficial. Worshipping and adoring the cow, that nourishes us is a scared duty of all Bharatiyas and a song and dance sequence portraying the Goo worship as did in the times of Krishna in the Brij was lovely and vibrant. It was a riot of colours on stage as the little ones swang to the tunes with Kantha in tandem. Man today, in his pursuit of unsullied self-interest, is causing great harm to mother earth and her beauty and charm is been ravaged due to his greed. This agony of Bhoo Matha was sensitively showcased with an appeal to stop the plunder. The Mother, who gave birth to our physical body is to be adored and respected by all. How she understands the inner-most feelings of her children, her sacrifices and encouragements and above all her compassion were all thoughtfully depicted through a modern day family scene wherein the mother guides her two children towards excelling in their studies and in character-building as well. And, finally one should adore one’s own country as mother, as Desa Matha for it is said that one’s own land is holier and greater than paradise itself. The umpteen numbers of patriots who sacrificed everything for the cause of their nation is an inspiration and compels us to re-dedicate ourselves to protect her glory. The finale song “Maa Tuje Saalam” was hair-raising, to say the least. The celebration ended with mangala Aarti and Sri Lalu Prasad sat through out the entire program and enjoyed it every bit.
