Look Deeper!!!

By Mrs. Usha Ranganathan

" A man, to be greatly good, must

imagine intensively and comprehensively; he must put himself in the place of

another and of many others; the pains and pleasures of his specie must become

his own. "

- SHELLY

It was on the

3rd August 1990 at Madras. My husband was

admitted in a Nursing Home and I was taking care of him. I had gone out to a

nearby shop to purchase some medicines. As I was talking to the shop-keeper, an

old man presented himself and sought alms from me. Very much annoyed, the shopkeeper

shouted and asked him to go away: " This is not the place for

begging. " The old man stood imperturbably and told me: " My Daughter

— Sai Baba is kind to you " . He smiled at me.

" Give me ten rupees. Look at your

hand. Sai-Ramji has blessings for you. Give me ten

rupees. " Instinctively I looked down at my hand. On my right palm was

imprinted in black Devanagari script 'Sai Ram'. It

would have taken no more than a feather to knock me down. The man was ten feet

away from where I was standing and he had not come within touching distance. I

took out twenty five rupees and offered him. He blessed me and left. I rubbed

my eyes. There was no question of its having been hypnotism, for I had to use

soap before I could remove that sooty imprint.

Sai Baba in His own

inimitable style had given me 'darshan' and blessed

me.
