The Wonderful Telugu New Year - Ugadi, The Malayalam New Year - Visu, The Sindhi New Year - Cheti Chand and the Marathi New Year or Gudi Padwa or Samvatsar Padvo are upon us -

Ugadi is It is Celebrated on March 16th this year.

It is said that the Divine Creator - Lord Brahma started creation on this day - Chaitra Suddha Padhyami or the Ugadi day.

Ugadi is also the day on which Lord Sri Krishna gave up His mortal body in a sacred place of pilgrimage called Prabhasa Near Dwaraka, Which marks the commencement of Kaliyuga.

Vikrutinama Samvatsara Ugadi or the first day of Vikruthi Nama Samvatsaram is Telugu New Year and Kannada New Year day in traditional Shalivahana Shaka Calendar followed in Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka.

Ugadi is celebrated as Gudi Padwa or Samvatsar Padvo or Marathi New year in Maharashtra. Cheti Chand is the Sindhi New Year, observed on the day after Ugadi. Malayalam New Year is celebrated as Vishu.

Let us all remember Bhagawan's Wonderful and Divine Words on Ugadi day on March 27th ' 1971 :

The word Yugadi means the day of the innauguration of the Yuga or Age. The spiritual discipline for each Age has been prescribed by the Shastras , for the Krita or the First Age, it is Dhyana; for the Treta, the second, it is Dharma; for the Dwapara, the third, it is Archana or Ritual Worship and for the present, the Kali Age, it is Namasmarana, the Repetition of the Name of God.

So on the Ugadi day, you must dedicate your life anew to the discipline enjoined, and resolve to accept it and practise it to the utmost. This involves giving up all the habits that interfere with the constant remembrance of God."

Om Sai Ram
