Guest guest
AUM SAI RAM Maya is not only 'illusion' but is also 'self-deception'. I will illustrate this assertion by the story of the hungry horse- Once upon a time, there was a horse that belonged to the King's messenger. The latter was, one day, sent on an urgent mission to a distant city. He saddled his horse and off they went as swift as lightning. They continued without stop. After they had passed several stables where animals are fed, the horse started to dream that he was probably being treated like a human being, not an animal and he would be treated with a royal meal when they would reach their destination. However, the journey seemed endless and the poor animal was feeling very hungry. It then crossed his mind that he was not being treated like a human being, but like an angel because angels do not eat. Finally, they reached their destination and the horse was led to the stable where he hungrily devoured the hay that other horses were eating. He had to sadly admit that he was neither a human being nor an angel but an exhausted and a hungry horse. To this, I will add another story or rather, a true story. There was one woman who was an excellent cook and in a social club, she was allotted the task of caterer. However, forgetting that she was gifted by God Himself with culinary feats, she became very jealous of another woman who was in charge of the official side of the club. She refused to attend to her job and started to speculate on becoming a clerk, then a writer and afterwards, an administrator. At the end of the day, she was replaced by another cook but she had to admit that office work was not made for her. Maya or illusion or self –deception is eliminated with the cultivation of pure thoughts, pure words and pure deeds. God is the only Doer.
