Sairam dear Sai Children, Sai Sisters and Sai Brothers

of all 4 Sai SatSanghs in Dammam, Jubail, Jeddah and

Riyadh.

We continue with our 8th posting of 2008 as on Friday

22nd Feb 08. This week also I am continuing to report

in the absence of Sister Renuka who has gone to India

(on a short vacation) to attend the wedding of a near

relative.

Summary:

1. Total Attendance all over Saudi was above 110.

2. Study Circle review on “Gunas”

3. Postings to cover a wider ground to include Mahilas

and BalVikas activities

Details:

Jubail center held the weekly Satsang on Thursday

21st Feb at 7.15 PM attended by about 26 members at

Bro Gopi's residence. Aarthi was taken by Bro

Ravishekar on their wedding anniversary day. May god

bless them. There were 5 members from Al-khobar /

Dammam. Thank you Bro. Wimal for the report.

Dammam-Khobar centre held the weekly Satsang on

Wednesday, 20th Feb 2008 at 7.30 pm at Bro. Ganesan’s

residence in Dammam. Around 25 devotees attended the

Bhajan. Aarthi was taken by Bro.Ganesan. Thank you for

the report, Bro. Prem.

Jeddah Samiti held the weekly Bhajan at 21st Feb

Thursday starting at 7.30 pm at Al Rehab Dist. Bro

Rajan/Gopi residence. Total attendance 24 devotees.

Bro. Unni has taken Aarthi. After Bhajan all members

discussed about various proposals for forthcoming

Shivrathri including Narayana seva. Bro. Prakash has

come forward to host the Bhajans in one of the

forthcoming weeks.

We request other centers to come forward to help grow

the Jeddah center.

Riyadh centre held the weekly Satsang on Friday 22nd

February 2008 at 9 am followed by study circle. It was

attended by about 40 devotees and Aarthi was taken by

Bro. C.V. Raman Kumar of AlRajhi Bank.

The session was followed by a study circle based on

notes circulated earlier by Bro RaviChandran of SABIC.

This was on Human “Gunas” as the focus.

It is mentioned in our Vedas that humans are born with

3 major characteristics (built into the human genes).

These are Satvic, Rajasic and Tamasic. The mixing of

these 3 Gunas (like the Red-Green-Blue in colors)

creates various personalities and causes the

differentiation.

There is some emerging evidence from main stream

science for these phenomena. It is now agreed by

scientists that, Human gene varies less than 0.01%

between different human beings and less than 1% with

even apes. If there are not that much physical

differences between people, why do they behave so

differently. This is a question we have to ponder.

Biology has no answer. Vedic Spirituality does explain

it.

Most of the animals and even insects behave the same

way in their group. Infact even one piece of gold is

same as other piece of gold. So why then, the

difference in Humans? This definitely points to

presence of an external element more than material

body. This is the “soul- divine material” as per our

Vedanta that distinguishes us.

The presence of soul can be realized by “mind” but it

is not a physical organ like Heart or Brain. However

mind has to be trained for recognizing once own soul,

let alone others- this is why, we have spiritual

practices called sadhanas. Anyone who follows these

steps can realize it and it has no connection to with

any caste, wealth or even age or sex. It all depends

on the spiritual efforts put in. This is our Vedanta.

We are fortunate that Baba is there to help and guide

us in these Sadhanas. Sai Satsanghs are the best

schools for such sadhanas.

However this learning of “self” is different in

different people because they have different mix of

these 3 Gunas. Satvic Gunas facilitate learning,

Rajasic Gunas distract from learning (by focusing on

power & ego) and Thamasic Gunas prohibit from learning

by leaning towards pleasure and ignorance. However no

one Guna is by itself bad, all 3 gunas, are present in

each one when born. However the amount or influence of

any one Guna can be “changed” by spiritual practices

and we are learning the “How” aspects in study circle.

This discussion will continue in the next study

circle.

Meanwhile, the question raised earlier by, National

Chairperson Bro Packy on How to create and develop

“Love for All” was again discussed. Some of the

answers suggested were “Selfless service and not

hating others” will create love for all. Members are

requested to respond to this important query.

Shivrathri Program details from 6pm – to 6am on 6th

March were announced.

The Retreat at Riyadh is likely to be in the First

week of April 3 or 4th.

Phalasruthi was added to the Vedam Chanting by Riyadh

Sai Group after practice by some members who were

taught by Suresh Iyengar. He is continuing coaching at

the center for Purusha-suktham.

I request those members who do see this risnet posting

to enquire with other members as to who is not

accessing it, for whatever reasons. We can thus plan

to have print outs of each weekly risnet postings for

them distributed at the Bhajan. (We cannot reach them

now because they cannot see this announcement). Pl

inform me in person or to Sister Renuka via email:

rajanpbv or renukariyadh

We wish to cover more news and info on Mahila

activities and Bal Vikas classes. So Sister Renuka

Patra will focus in next 4 weeks, on adding specific

comments each week for these areas till it is covered

in sufficient detail. She will contact by phone the

Mahilas and BalVikas children and get their inputs. Pl

give her cooperation and your valuable inputs.

House Bhajans are being encouraged under a new

initiative by the center. It is not necessary to

invite all members but limit to such numbers as can be

comfortably accommodated and controlling the noise

level. It would be good if we can have one House

Bhajan every week.

We end our 8th posting for 2008 here with these Divine

Words----

Whatever talent a person has, should be dedicated to

the service of the rest of humanity, indeed, of all

living beings. Therein lies fulfillment. All men are

kin, they are of the same likeness, the same build;

moulded out of the same material, with the same divine

essence in each. Service to man will help your

divinity to blossom, for, it will gladden your heart

and make you feel that life has been worth-while.

Service to man is service to God, for He is in every

man and every living being as well as in every stone

and stump…Baba

Pranams

P.B.V.Rajan
