Guest guest
Illumined ones i.e.Stithaprajnas are free from three traits that most tarnish the mind i.e. a) greed, b) fear and c) anger. In this fear plays a significant role as the root cause of even greed and anger is our fear of something. Let us analyze how we can overcome this trait in our life: 1) Fear of death – First and foremost of all fears of human is the fear of death. We have to realize that every human life is like a prescription refill with an expiry date written on it. We do not know the date of expiry but we have been created for a purpose just like prescription medication. There is no purpose in leading a life fearing death every moment. At the same time, there is no purpose in assuming that we are going to live forever and live a tamosic life. We have to think always that the next moment could be our last and keep doing things as though each day is our last day. We have to learn to live in present. We are given 86,400 precious seconds every day and if we do not spend it wisely, we can't accumulate them to the next day. 2) Fear of failure – Second most fear of all is the fear of failure. We have to learn to do actions according to our conscience as our nature is going to automatically lead us to do what we like the most. Only precaution we need to take is to use our discrimination power to do it in the best possible manner and leave the fruits of action to God. Fear of failure comes because of fear of losing the reputation, pride, power and position which comes because of identifying ourselves with this body and mind. Let us detach ourselves to the fruits of all our actions, the fear of failure will disappear from our mind. 3) Fear of losing love of loved ones – Fear of losing the love of loved ones is the third most fear that all of us face. When our actions are driven by the fear of losing the love of loved ones, it becomes the conditional love and not true love that God has for us and we have for God. We have to use our discrimination when we do our actions and be courageous to face the results of our actions. If we learn to disassociate ourselves with the success or failure of all actions without any discrimination, God's grace will be showered on us. 4) Fear of losing material possessions - Fear of losing our material possession is a fear that we all face in our day to day life. We have to learn to hold everything that we have in our possession as a trustee of God and experience detachment to all material possessions. It is an illusion that we think we are this body and claim all that we have around us our possessions. Let us use such possessions for good cause and continue to do all our actions without any fear and without any expectation of results. God will shower his grace and protect us and all our possessions that are used for good cause. Our Bhagavan has said " Why fear when I am here? " Why we have to live in fear when Avatar has come to the face of this earth to establish Sanatana Dharma? Why do we have to lose time fearing about something when we have a golden opportunity to listen to the words of Lord of the Universe and realize our true nature? In order to succeed in self inquiry, we need to overcome the fear and begin to understand the oneness with the Universal Absolute.
