Guest guest
Sai-Satsang in 4 centers continued (week ending 15th Nov, Thursday) Sairam to all Children, Sisters and Sai Brothers in all 4 Sai SatSanghs in Dammam, Jubail, Jeddah and Riyadh. We continue with the Thirty ninth (39) posting of the activities of all 4 centers. Summary: 1) Total Attendance all over Saudi at above 110 2) Laksharchana next week in Riyadh 3) “Divinity” surrounds us- Scientific proof? Details: In Dammam the weekly satsangh was held on the evening 14th Nov, Wednesday at 7.30 pm at residence of Mr. Kaladeepan in Khobar. The attendance was by about 30 members. Aarthi was taken by Bro. Suresh Kumar. Incidentally a new member Bro. Sudarshan (from Cochin) has joined the Eastern province Sai satsangh and may be located either in Dammam or Jubail. We welcome him. He is reportedly a good Bhajan singer. Last week I forgot to mention that 4 members from Dammam attended the 24 hour Akanda Bhajan in Riyadh and traveled back to attend the 6 hour session in Khobar. Bro Prem provided the report. Thank you Prem. Jubail center held the weekly Satsang on Thursday 15th Nov at 7.30 pm attended by about 15 members (including 5 members from Dammam) at Bro Wimal's residence. Aarthi was taken by Bro.Muthu. Next week they are planning to hold the Bhajan on 23rd Nov at Bro Sunil’s place at 10 am. Bro Wimal provided the report. Thank you Wimal. Jeddah Sai Samithi members met at Bro. Ashok's Nada Residence on 15th Nov, Thursday with 17 members attending the bhajans. Aarthi was taken by Bro Chirag. Next week the Bhajan is planned at Bro Gopi’s place on Friday 23rd Nov. The report was provided by Bro. Ashok who also read the Thought for the day. Thank you Ashok. Riyadh center held an evening Bhajan on Thursday 15th Nov from 7.00 pm. The program was attended by about an estimated 55 members and children. The aarthi was done by Bro. Murugadas. Earlier a special prayer for an hour was held for Lord Muruga on the occasion of Kanda Sashti. A lovely framed picture of Lord Muruga with Vel was also displayed. Most of the Bhajans were also on Lord Muruga. Bro. Ravi Chandran continued reading of the Shirdi Sai Charita. Bro. Kaushik Anand Rao is leaving KSA for better prospects elsewhere. We wish him all the best and SAI’s blessings. On 23rd Nov, Friday, (Swami’s Birthday) Riyadh center is organizing a Laksharchana and all members from all centers are welcome (on Thursday night- so that they can participate from the morning next day 9 am). Pl allow me to Quote Swamy on what he said about why we do Bhajans: You do bhajans and think that you are doing it in order to please God. But God does not need anything. You do bhajans for your own happiness. Share your happiness with others. God is the embodiment of bliss. Hence, He does not require anything from you. …When you do bhajans, your heart becomes purified. The worship and the bhajans that you sing are meant for your own happiness and not for the happiness of God. Swami when talking about God and Divinity often tell us “It is around you, it is inside you and it is You”. While we often search for more clarity of this statement, we now get a report from a scientific source regarding this. Bill Bryson writing in his book, “ A Short History of nearly Everything” mentions in page 501, Chapter 26 (The stuff of Life) dealing with Genes that “All life is one” from a scientific view point because every living thing is an elaboration on a single Original plan (of DNA). Each of us think we are unique and special. Infact our genes match each other 99.9% with all the rest of us. The individual difference between different people is less than 0.1% and this is scientific truth. This is not just among humans, even other life forms the similarity is quite striking. So if you had some “rational” doubts about existence of the “Unity” of the all the existence (fundamental concept in Advaita which Swami often quotes in his lectures) the “proof” is now available in Modern Science. Army Control President Musharraf’s announcement of a “date for Elections” in Pakistan without lifting the emergency is a charade. What kind of a democratic election it will be with judges being pre-judged and dismissed? Major political parties have been stifled and their leaders thrown in jails and the media made either silent or sullen. Pakistanis are a good and industrious people, and it is a pity that all this is happening to them. Pakistanis have been trying to compete with India in every aspect. However, in respect of democracy and the rule of law, the attitude of Pakistani society is different. It is as if they are from another world. The world is not going to ignore the developments in Pakistan , as it has the troubles in Myanmar , not only because of its nuclear arms, but also because of its reputation for proliferation. Pakistan ’s nuclear arms, intended to be a deterrent against India , have now become an invitation for superpowers to treat Pakistan with caution. Their army was intended to protect the country, but is now controlling all aspects of their society including judiciary, media and civilians. P.B.V. Raajan, Riyadh published 17 November 2007 Pak Crisis The only thing we can agree with in your Nov. 9 editorial was the title: “ Pakistan ’s Crisis”. It was good that you agreed that there was a crisis. Apart from that, it was quite unbalanced. The first thing everyone outside Pakistan has to agree is that it is Pakistanis who must, and will, choose their president, prime minister, army chief and chief justice of the Supreme Court. They are the ones primarily affected by the choice, and hence it is their right to choose. The US and others should stay away in the larger interest of Pakistanis themselves. Your advice about Benazir Bhutto or Nawaz Sharif to quit was unwarranted. The people of Pakistan have formed their own opinion of the two. They have direct experience of their governments. For them it is more than news; it is their life and it is their choice. Pakistan came into being as a result of the efforts of the earlier generations of its own people, and not because of the support from any foreign country. If they could create a country, they can manage it as well. In fact, it is a crisis for India too that all its neighbors — Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bangladesh, Myanmar and adjacent countries like Afghanistan and Iran — are all having internal problems at the same time in 2007. Is it by chance or by design? P.B.V. Raajan, Riyadh published 16 November 2007 ______________________________\ ____ Never miss a thing.
