Sent by Mrs.Radha Joseph : Wanted to share with you few details from this Tamil Siddhar book onNavarathri written by Durga Sitthar This October is an auspicious month since Navarathri starts from Fridaythe 12th, there are totally five Navarathris in a year and the mostfamous of these is the Sharada Navarathri or Durga Navarathri as thesenine days are called. It is believed that Rama fasted and prayed to Goodess durga for nine days and won Sita, it is also believed that the Pandavas had left their weapons in hiding on a Vanni Maram while they were in exile, Krishna advised them to pray to Goodness durga who was the Vana Durga for strength and prosperity, they prayed to her throughout the five Navarathris and came victoriously to collect their weapons from the Vanni tree after nine days of praying and fastingending with Sharada

Navarathri. Legend has it that because the Pandavas collected their weapons on a desami after their vijayam, this auspicious day is called Vijaya Desami. During Navarathri, the Goddess is worshipped as Durga the conqueror ofevil the first three days, as Lakshmie, the divine consort of Narayanathe next three days and as Saraswathi the goddess of knowledge the lastthree days. All the three forms merge into one as the Mahisa mardhinion the 10th day where we celebrate Vijaya Dasmi. We can recite DurgaAshtothram the first three days, Lakshmi Ashtothram the next three daysand Saraswathi Ashtothram the last three days. Lalitha Sahasranamamand Devi Mahatmayam can be read throught the Navarathri period. Neivadiyam: Panagam can be used as daily neivedeyam. Day1 Durga: Lime rice, Day 2 Durga, Yellu Sadam or Seasame riceDay 3 Durga, Curd

riceDurga can be worshipped with red, yellow and blue colour flowers.Woman usually light lamps with lime during these days.Day 4 lakshmi: Chakara pongal or Jaggery riceDay 5 Laskhmi: Milk riceDay 6 Lakshmi: Kalkandu riceLakshmi is worshipped with red lotus , kadamba flowers and jasmineLamps with ghee can be lit during these days.Day 7 saraswathi: Ven Pongal riceDay 8 Saraswathi: Cocunut RiceDay 9 Saraswathi: Milk RiceSaraswthi can be worshipped with white lotus, jasmine, chambangi andtulasi.Lamps with sesame oil or nalennai can be lit during these days.Lamps are lit on the first day of Navarthri and the deepam goes as anakanda deepam or non stop deepam for nine daysThe navasakthi slogam is transalated in English by Ambika for everybodysbenefit, please say all these nine slogams a minimum of 12 times duringthe Navarathri period. 1)

KumariKumari. Kumarasya sadath vane ya shrujathiya bhi leelaya khadinabhishadevan dhan kumarim pujyamyaham. 2) ThrimurthiTrimurthi. Sathvadhibi trimurthir yadhirhi nanaswaroopini trikalavyabhini shakthis trimurthim pujyamyaham.3). Kalyani. Kalyani karineem nithyam bhakthanaam poojitha anisham pujayami saadhambhaktiya kalyanim sarva kamana. 4). Rohini. Rohayanthisa peejani prapthi nama sanche tanivai yadevi sarve bhuthanamrohini poojayam yaham.

5). Kali. Kali kalayathe sarvam bhramandam characharam kalpanda samaye yadhamkalikam pujyamyaham. 6). Chandigai. Chandigham chanda roopam sa chanda munda vinashini dham chanda papaharinim chandikam pujyamyaham. 7). Shambavi. Agaranath samud bhakti yen mayayai parikirthitha yas yaas dhaamsugadham deviem chambhaveem pujyamyaham. 8). Durga. Durga thrayathi bhaktham ya sadha durgarthi nashini durjaya

sarvaathavanaam dham durgam puujyam yaham. 9). Shubadhra. Shubadrani sabhakthanaam gurudea pujitha sadhaka abthra nashinim deevimshubhadra pujyamyaham. Shylaputri, bhramacharini,chandrakhanda, kushmanda, skandamatha, karthayeni, kalrathri, mahagowri,sithitha. Please also dont forget to worship Goodess Varahi, who is the chiefcommander of the armed forces, she has a pigs face and beautiful womansbody and has eight hands, 6 holding weapons and 2 showing the abhayamudras, worshipping her brings unlimited victory and propserity, thefierce goodess is full of divine love when it comes to her devotees. Please find below her nama :Varahi. Om seem hreem gleam varahae swaha..... You can say it aminimum of 12 times and a
