GUILT(Chapter 19)One

of the primary causes of man's distance from God is his feeling of

guilt, inadequacy and sin. This affects our relationship with the Lord.

Guilt is a past phenomenon - relating to actions previously carried

out. The past is past, dead and beyond recovery, the future is

uncertain and an unknown quantity, a mystery but the present is with

you now. It is the precious present available now to use wisely. Do not

lose it in useless turmoil, in reviewing events which are long buried

and belong to yesterday. Do not allow guilt to destroy the happiness

and joy that is in your hands now.If

one sees Him as a harsh uncompromising Lord on a high throne, a

dictator, then that is what He is obliged to be for your sake. If one

poses the barrier of guilt, then He has to accede. His love is such

that He becomes what we expect of Him. You must never allow such

considerations as guilt or sin to come between the Lord and you.

Recognize the vital role, thoughts and beliefs, play and so refrain

from creating these barriers that separate Him from you. Always

remember that come what may, regardless of the behavior of others, you

immerse yourself in love of Him and live in Him, that is all that is

required. That is all that is necessary for the fulfillment of the

relationship. Walk on into the future with love in the heart for Him.

In this manner, even the past can be negated and atoned for.Once

one is firmly convinced of one's guilt, the Lord cannot then interfere.

He cannot halt the process and it must reach its own conclusion until

one finally allows Him to forgive, allows Him to come near. At such

times, while we are immersed in this self guilt, the Lord stands by

watching, hoping and waiting for an opportunity, a loophole to correct

our thinking pattern and views. At times, we are so engrossed in our

own self-guilt, it is a luxury we love to indulge in. Then we leave no

avenue for Him, no crack where He can enter in. He is obliged to wait

until we come out of or remove ourselves from our guilt. Separate our

selves from this guilt and become our selves again. We pose and create

that barrier with our sense of guilt and inferiority. If there is no

guilt, no ego and there is no 'I', then nothing would ever come between

Him and us or cause disturbance in our lives. When one feels unworthy

of His love, and inadequate, then how can He over ride it? At best, He

can attempt to lead us away from or try to make us understand the

situation so that we may be able to remove this barrier. So many of us

suffer from some fear or other, some sense of unlovedness or we are

unable to love due to various factors of family, upbringing,

environment and social pressures; all these raise major obstacles to

loving God and winning His love.Even

if one's actions indirectly cause pain to another, one has to be aware

and conscious of the fact that there is only God, nothing but God. We

are unaware and cannot be privy as to the real reasons as to why some

particular event has taken place. Sometimes, it can merely be the final

straw in a list of occurrences that is the trigger to causing that

pain. Or sometimes, it could be karmic and past life connected, past

life associations and past life debts that are beyond one's control to

halt. Whatever the reason and cause, it is futile to take the

responsibility upon oneself. Leave everything to the Lord. One must

always avoid falling into the trap of self-guilt. Once one falls into

this trap, one closes the door to God.Once

one gains some intimation of God's presence; once one begins to live in

that presence, then there are no such things as our errors, our

mistakes. Living in His presence excludes errors - so what is there to

feel guilty about? If in all honesty, one lives in His presence, then

He is responsible for our actions. The feeling of guilt will do nothing

to help! It will merely create a chasm between Him and us. One must

learn to live in the belief that I am not the doer. Live in the belief,

'I am not the doer, the Lord does everything'. Embrace that belief and

nothing on this earth can ever cause disturbance. However, this is not

a license to go out and do anything one wishes and attribute it to the

Lord. He does not accept such actions. He is not a fool. Only when one

acts with complete purity of intention and no thought of evil or harm

will He accept the consequences of your actions. (From : THE KEY TO GOD'S HEART by R SAI)Copyright
