Guest guest
Taken from Swami's Divine Discourse on 13th February'1997 : "Formerly I stayed in the old mandir. There, the British couple Mr. & Mrs. Kurup brought two puppies and presented them to Me. The puppies bore the names Jack and Jill. Soon they became attached to Me; when He rested one puppy was near my head and the other at My feet.At one time, the Queen of Mysore paid a visit to Parthi. She was highly orthodox, if she heard a dog's bark she would not take food. She had sent a message, if there were any dogs around, they should be put under lock and key. There was no approach road to Puttaparthi in those days. At Karnatakapalli, they had to get down from the car and walk the distance. There weren't any hotels and the Mandir was the only shelter. After dinner, the Queen sent back the driver to the car, as she proposed to spend the night at Parthi. I sent Jack to lead him through the route. As it was very cool and fine the driver slept in the car and the dog was lying under the car. Next morning, the driver gave a trial run for the car. The tire passed over the back of Jack and its back bone got fractured. The dog could not bear the suffering and started barking. There is the Chitravathi river on the way. It dragged its body along the sands of the shores of the river. At the gate there was a person by name Chakali Subbanna. He reported to Me the condition of the dog. I went to Jack. It fell at My feet. It caught hold of both My hands and died. Such was its faithfulness. Because Jack died, the other dog Jill did not eat anything. After a few days Jill also died. And today you find behind the Old Mandir, the tombs in memory of Jack and Jill. Human beings would stand to gain if they have a fraction of that love.
