Guest guest
SERVICE – A GIFT OF LOVE Dedicated to the undying spirit of service that burns in every heart and the One who inspires this flame, through His own life, to grow brighter with each passing day. “Paropakaraartham Idam Shareeram” The body is given to serve others. This compilation is not meant to be a mere addition to the existing volumes that stack the shelves of Sai literature. This is meant to be a personal companion, be carried around and flipped open during a contemplative moment. A heart that wishes to serve requires some time to itself to remain still, reinforce conviction and strengthen perspective. Bhagawan’s words provide sweet nourishment to the loving heart that wishes to give itself away. Just flip open to any page and listen to Swami’s words on service…… Whatever talent a person has, should be dedicated to the service of humanity. Therein lies its fulfillment. All men are moulded out of the same Divine essence. Service to man will help the latent Divinity to blossom. It will make your life worthwhile. Service to man is service to God for He is in every man, every living being. Offer your talents at the feet of God; let every act be a flower, free from the creeping worms of envy and egoism, full of fragrance, love and sacrifice. Help rendered, however small, is as good as offering one’s life itself if it comes from the deeper urges of the heart. Half hearted and hesitating help, however great, is deplorable. Good actions are far more important than physical strength. A body that is not being used to serve others is nothing but a dead body. Use your body in the service of mindkind, not just for the purpose of catering to your selfish needs. “Hand that serve are holier than lips that Pray” “Love all, respect all and serve all” “Help ever, hurt never” “Love must be manifested as Seva Or Service” Seva must take the form of food for the hungry, solace for the forlorn, consolation for the sick and the suffering. Love expresses itsef as Seva Love grows through Seva Love is born in the womb of Seva and God is Love The best type of love is feeding the hungry. It is not charity you do. You are only offering gratitude to God by offering the food to these Gods in human form. Social work should not be showy work. One does not understand whether they are doing service of spending money. Be servants not masters. Why feed the already overfed. Do selfless Seva to the helpless, the sick and the needy. Seek them out all the time. Handle them as you would handle a rare flower or a costly fruit. Be alert to the call, everywhere at all times; Be ready with the smile, the kindword, the useful suggestion, the knowledgeful care and pleasant reply Volunteers: the best way to please me is to see “Me” in all beings and serve them just as you would like to serve “me” Help as much as you can, as efficiently as you can, as silently as you can, as lovingly as you can, Leave the rest to God, who gave you the chance to serve. Selfless service is the fragrant flower of altruistic love. Its is not to be performed for the satisfaction of the person rendering the service or the person whose bidding it is to be done. Selfless service should be regarded as the purpose for which man is given life The feeling should flow through his nerves and blood stream and permeate every cell of his body. He who dedicates his time, skill and strength to service can never meet defeat, distress or disappointment, for service has own rewards. Plant the seeds of love in your hearts, let them grow into trees of service and shower the sweet fruit of bliss. Share the bliss with all. Service brings human beings closer to each other and promotes affection and friendship. Without the friendship and feeling of love for one’s fellowmen, one cannot attain intimacy with the Lord which among the nine forms of devotion to God is next only to complete surrender. The real value of Seva, its most visible result, is that it re-forms you, re-shapes you, for the better. Man alone is capable of Seva. That is his special glory, unique skill.
