HOW TO LOVE GOD(Chapter 5)- continuation -You will hear a special song designed for you, if you call upon the Lord in your own heart where He is installed. Ask and He will answer. Have the form of the Lord before you and sit quietly in one place and repeat His name, any name. The form will hear and the form will respond. It is

His nature to care. It is His nature to love His creation. It is also His responsibility and His duty; if He does not do so,

then, who will? That must be your calling card, your proposal, 'Dear Lord, if you don't come to me, if you don't stay with me, if you don't abide with me, who else will?' Without this spring of love that bubbles in your heart, you will not be prompted to love at all. Recognize that spring, rely on it more and more and develop its possibilities. Try to irrigate the whole world with it, discard all touch of self from it. Do not seek anything in return from those to whom you extend it.By your cultivation of this virtue, grace is converted into clouds of truth

that can rain on humanity. So it is not only love but love, truth and virtue. The eagerness to progress, to serve, to expand one's heart, to take the whole of humanity in one's love. To see all as forms of the divine consciousness.

One of the vital precepts for this is truth. If you are to live your

life in righteousness, if you are to live your life in this manner, if

you desire to win the Lord's heart and have Him enter your heart, then truth is a necessity, it is vital and essential. Falsehood is something one must eschew and not be

associated with at all costs. The power of truth is the power of love. It is all powerful and it is present in all beings. When it is practiced, it grants everything. Love

is everywhere, there is no place without love. Love is the foundation of all prosperity and happiness. It is only because we have forgotten this truth that our lives

are colored by misery and problems.There is no person that is bad and no person that is good. Therefore, one should not judge and label people and their actions because we can never be aware of the reasons, the previous actions that have been committed and which have culminated in the results before us now. So when you see two people

at odds with each other, it is not necessary that either one is bad and the other good. It could well be that they are both good and that they are merely carrying out the pre-programmed actions as a result of past events to

balance previous debts and future events. Consider everyone as a child of the Lord, as your own brother and sister. Develop the quality of love. Seek always the welfare of humanity. Love and you will be loved in return. Hate will never be your lot if you promote love. Look upon all with love. That is the one lesson to learn, it is the highest secret. If you want to attain God, if you want to attain the key, cultivate love, give up hatred, envy,

anger, cynicism and falsehood. Is your heart full of love? That is all He wishes to know. Believe that love is God, truth if God, love is truth and truth is love.One of the prime principles of how to love God is not to cause hurt to anyone for in every form, in each human

being, in each entity, each grain of sand and every atom in the universe there is a soul and that soul is God. Therefore, learn to have regard and respect for everyone's particular preferences. Respect them for what they are. Respect them for what they want, what they wish, and what they do. He looks to us and He respects

our wishes. He respects and responds to our yearnings and desires and

longings in spite of the fact that they are not in consonance with what He desires for us. If you expect to be respected, if you expect to be looked up to, if you want to be honored, if you desire politeness, kindness, caring and consideration and sympathy, then you must give these

things yourself. You must offer these to all those around you. It is but one of the many pathways to the golden key. Practice only one and you will attain it without doubt. For where one virtue is the other, qualities follow automatically.Another one of the most vital qualities to attain is to live in his constant presence. Converse with Him, love Him, live with Him from moment to

moment.

Some of the things that can help achieve this are so very simple.

Dispense with the media and television. Be careful how you use the God

given gifts of energy, air, time and money. Try to spend even a couple of minutes in prayer at a fixed time. Be engaged in your duty at home and work, wherever you are in love of Him. Make an attempt to overcome the negative tendencies and love everyone. Try not to be attached to the

world, only to God. The most important but not least, is attach yourself to God and love Him with all your heart, all your soul, mind and being.Amongst the virtues required, the paramount one is patience. We have a tendency to blame others, hold others responsible, to find a scapegoat for all our problems, worries and all that is lacking in our lives. As soon as something goes wrong, the human tendency is to incriminate someone other than oneself. To overcome this, just see Him in all others and in their actions. When you see everything, the good and the bad, as coming and originating from God. Every thought, the way someone treats you, everything that is said and

done to you, all of it originates from that one divine mind, then indeed, you will see that it is futile and pointless to point the finger of blame at anyone. Leave everything to Him and realize that this life is merely a learning process. Never think that anyone acts outside of His

will. Remember that all carry out His wishes and that if it is His will, then everything will fall into place for you. If it does not do so, then acceptance must be that it is not the divine will. To achieve this state, there is a necessity to have total and complete faith

or overwhelming love for Him. Faith and love are the two wings with

which one can fly high. The watch word is watch : Watch your thoughts,

words, actions, character and your heart.As you attempt this, no words can ever express the joy of this union, of the tangible

presence of the Lord that only you will be aware of. It is beyond words

to explain. One must experience it to realize and understand its true worth. It is a priceless gift which no jewel on earth, no amount of gold, wealth or jewels can ever compare with. And as each new dawn dawns, you will awaken with a smile on your lips, a song in your heart, for no matter what the day may hold materially, you will always share precious moments from which you can revel in a heavenly angelic time with Him and lose yourself in the bliss of His presence. It will be found that His presence will create harmony and peace. His presence is indicative of His love. The never-ending love and compassion that He has for us - else, why should He respond to us? Why should He answer us when we so little deserve it? To achieve this, to generate and create this love in the heart, there is a formula, it is called hands work, heart in which God resides, and mind holds

conversation with God. That is how life should be. Instead, our hearts are full of bad qualities, our minds are full of the past, present and future

and man's hands are full of the result and effect of both. When the mind is so occupied, how can there be a heart link with the divine? Hence, empty the mind, cleanse it and create the link with the heart, just like a telephone line. The distance between you and God is the distance

between you and yourself. You are God and you are the self, both entwined in one body. The only way to become closer to God, the only way to gain the magic key is to ignore the phenomenal world. Do not become entrapped in its whims and fancies, its ups and downs. Do not allow yourself to be tossed hither and thither. Stay firmly rooted in your love for Him. Be firmly rooted in His presence. Then, you will have the constant vision of the Lord in your heart with you, beside you, around you, above you, below and behind you; an aura, a presence as tangible as physical energy, a veritable current of love.Do not spend time thinking about the world or about your relationships to others. They are all impermanent. They will not last. Pay attention to that which lasts. Follow the

conscience for it is above the mind, it is the voice of God. Follow the divinity inside. If the conscience says do, then do. The voice of unchanging truth inside which will lead you to His heart. The world is not your business. It is God's business. You think of

God and let God take care of the world. One of the most important ways to achieve a depth of devotion and to improve upon and to expand it, one should relive and

re-experience all the divine contacts and experiences you have had with God, anything that is good, that is pure, that elevates the mind, beautiful episodes, only the blissful enriching moments in your life.First, you love, this is the initial stage. After that, comes the subtle inner relationship and you will realize that you are a spark of the divine, that you are a child of God. In the beginning, you say, 'O God, you are very dear

to me.' But it is when God says, 'You, my child, are very dear to me.' Then you are always near and dear to God. Now you are in a family relationship with God. Finally, you will realize that there is no difference between you and God, that indeed you are one and the same. How to achieve this? Love God with all your heart, mind and all your strength. Love all as God.Everyone has their own life to lead. No one is born for the sake of another. No one dies for anyone, yet our attachment to each other, the worldly ties are so strong and powerful, they swamp and smother us. This is an aspect that has to be addressed and overcome. We must realize and comprehend

this illusion, and remove the veil of ignorance if love of God is to

flourish. To this end, one must cultivate detachment, develop renunciation and halt desire in its tracks. Once we are free of conflicts, we ride the waves instead of being drowned by them. The end and sum of human life should not be wealth, vanity, gold, or worldly fame but character

and sacrifice. Be honest to yourself. Be sincere in thought and deed. One must not allow attachments and other motives to affect your resolve to earn and win God's love. There should be a constant yearning to love Him, to please Him, to be constantly with Him, so that the fullness of love can be achieved in time. For when that happens, until the

end of your life, nothing can ever come between you and Him.
