Guest guest Posted July 30, 2009 Report Share Posted July 30, 2009 Devotees to perform special prayer 29/07/2009 09:07:00 Staff Reporter Members of the Shri Shirdi Sai Sansthan NZ and their guests will perform their annual prayer, offering obeisance to Durga, the Goddess of Power later this month. Mata Chowki (or Durga Mata Chouki) will held at the Mahatma Gandhi Centre in Auckalnd’s Eden Terrace on August 22. Sanasthan president Hari Gangisetty said Pramod and Indu Kapur will sing bhajans and keertans and that the programme, which is scheduled to begin at 5 pm, would conclude with ‘Shej Arti’ around 9 pm. “Devotees will also sing ‘Sai Nama Smaran’ (recitation of the name of Shirdi Sai Baba). Donations received will go towards the construction of the Shirdi Sai Baba Temple at 11 Brick Street in Henderson, West Auckland,†he said. He said that based on the success of the programme held last year (Indian Newslink August 15 and September 1, 2008), the organisation expected a good turnout and cash donations this year. Sansthan secretary Bhaskar Reddy said the building project is being vigorously pursued in terms of a decision by the members to adhere to the original plan that involved a financial outlay of about $3 million.
