No. You want the fruit because you wish to enjoy it... Similarly, every desire you have is for the gratification of your own self. There is something in you that drives you, and that driving force arises because you are either consciously or unconsciously seeking satisfaction for yourself. However, in all cases, it is the lower self that is involved; that is why one describes all such actions as selfish. In spirituality, one must focus on the Higher Self; all actions must spring from the desire to satisfy this Higher or Real Self. This is true Self-satisfaction. Actions aiming at satisfying the Inner Self are not selfish in the worldly sense because they are far from worldly desires and petty expectations. Guest guest Posted July 28, 2009 Report Share Posted July 28, 2009 dear sir, how can somebody concentrate on something, when their desires r not fulfiled? atleast the basic things shud get fulfilled know like, studies,marriage,children, some money to live,parents their desires and all. baba has only told in sachharita know we shud not be greedy,but also we shud have watever we want that is desire. if we have that desire only we can achieve something. we cant become god.we r human beings. anyways i am sorry if ai am rude. Desire is a common spreading dieses my sai Ram Brother. First starting Child, then education, then job, then marriage, then atleast one Mercedez Car,one beautiful bunglow likes that, at last a huge amount bank balance......if possible one or 2 servants also......ultimately no end for our desire.....at last without doing anything simply sit & eat that also one type of desire some may have. When we need anything beg of the Lord, leave wordly honours & desires, try to get God's Grace & Blessings and be honoured in HIS Court...thats the only way to fullfill our desire my Sai Ram Brother. Now the state of intense feelings generates a sense of disturbances in our emotional vibration space that finally ends in a little unstable mind and heart. I do have personal experience on this,,, and I can say it with my heart and mind.... that unless you start curbing the desires.... they will never end.... Initially you might notbe able to control at all... but slowly... you start to feel the difference... :)Also, you are right when you say.. " the basic things should get satisfied.... roti, kapda aur makan.... " ... but do we really stop there..... do we not look for some additional bank balance.... some leisure travel.... some luxuries in life.... that is when we start desiring.... and i guess.... for these desires it is said... " MAN - DESIRE = GOD " Sri Lahiri Mahasaya was a great saint and a householder too....
