Belief is nothing but common feeling within the group or society or religion prevailing which can be anything like worship,Cultural practise while

Faith is one, on the innerself feeling about your relationship with God which can measure upto different levels depending on your state of comfort /discomfort

Sairam Sir,Baba explained once the difference " Everyone believe that i am GOD but nobody has faith in me. If i tell you to jump from a 7th floor of a building will you jump? If you jump without questioning when i tell you to jump that is faith. "  

Once in kodai he demonstrated this difference when he asked a student to bent down and lick a pigeon shit and that bangaroo bent down to lick without questioning. The moment his tongue touched the pigeon shit it turned to vibhuti. Perhaps BABA wanted to show the world few people have faith in Him though millions believe in Him.

Is not Faith a prerequisite to Belief ? - whislt both are acutely intertwined. Belief would imply as of a necessity an / unwavering/unconditional focus into/at a methodology, system, or practise [ be it religious or spiritual] whilst Faith would focus on an intended / expected outcome as a natural consequenc of [that] Belief - one which may be immediate or even later. Both processes are reflective of a particular controlled state of mind/discipline , with intended outcomes.

Dear Hari Krishna,That is a wonderful question you have asked.BELIEF : The acceptance of the mind over certain event, object or the result of certain action performed. BELIEF is almost all the time accompanied by EXPECTATION. One may say "I BELIEVE this is what will happen when I perform this action". It is clear that the person expects the result of the action yet to be performed. Belief is easier to break and can cause a lot of disappointment.FAITH : The unwavering confidence in someone or something can be called FAITH. A person with FAITH does not have much to lose. FAITH does not bring expectations with it. It instills confidence that whatever happens is for the good. One may say "I have FAITH in myself to pass the exams". This shows that no matter what happens in immediate future, the person is confident that he/she will clear the exams one day. Faith can only be strengthened by believing more in whatever you do. Faith is more appropriate with GOD while belief with everything else. Having faith in god shall certainly do much good than just belief. I hope this helps to answer our query albeit in a small way.
