Yet another year which was crucial for the Sai Family which had lots of challenges. The new year is dawning on us with tons of hopes and aspirations. With us it is yet another wasted year that perhaps was not utilised by us to maximum.Many a times, we didnt listen to HIS words, many a times, our monkey mind mastered us instead of we being its Master.. yet, Swami very lovingly said, PAST IS PAST. forget the past..How compassionate that statement is.. Our compassionate Lord always lets our sins forgiven and make us look upto a new beginning.when the new year dawns, it is the rare chance for Sri SathyaSai University alumuni to re-connect not just their old friends and homely Parthi but also to re-connect to their divine Master our beloved Lord, Sri Sathya Sai Baba.It is a rare privilege to study in His university. Referring to His students Swami once said you are not just students but you are sages and saints who did severe penance in your last births and earned this divine grace to be called as Sai student.An alumuni meet of other schools is very much different to Sri Sathya Sai University. In other alumini meets the students talk about their college days, the way they skipped the classes, how they made fun of their teachers, broken relationships so on. But here in Parthi it is very much different. All the memories are Swami centric. How Swami made every one laugh, how Swami taught the highest truth in a very simple way, the miracles that happened etc..Close to 1500 of Swami's ex-students were assembled in Sai Kulwanth hall on 31st December. To every one it was a new feeling.Many of them were the students who entered the portals of mandir, as a smallchild holding their parents hands, and today, they are holding the hands of their children, trying to acclimatize the surroundings of Parthi, telling how beautiful this little hamlet is, and being a proud parent to study in this holy institution.. There was a drama scheduled for the evening. For the first time, a large LED screen was put in the middle of the hall, by the large gate facing the dais. Many colour lights were seen hanging to give some special effect lighting for the drama. The veda chanting started as usual at 4pm and at 5pm it was pin drop silence.Swami out of His immense grace blessed us with HIs divine darshan around 5:30pm. Swami took a full round of the hall all the students were keenly watching the divine Master in many minds, the old memories would have been reeling.. how Swami used to walk amongst them how He used to make fun of them. Some were called Pakoda, some dunnapota, some bangaru and the list is long...and when Swami's car chair was wheeled amongst the same children of yesteryears, every one in their minds would be thinking of those names Swami used to call them, probably every one were saying from their heart, Swami your Pakoda is here, Swami your bangaru is here, Swami remember that evening when you blessed me with vibhuthi, remember when you sent prasad to me with my friend,what not... for every reminder, Swami's silent sweet smile was the answer..For many it was a very rare experience. Inspite of Swami maintaining absolute silence unlike His usual self but the divine energy was the same.Swami then went to the bhajan mandir to give final suggestions to the actors and in no time, one by one, all the characters in the drama walked out from the bhajan mandir towards the dais. the LED screen was a very innovative idea where in the introduction was played. With a nice music the titles came up and Swami's hand was shown holding a child's hand and then came up the title Adiye prema bandamu(that is bond of love).Devotees who were sitting on the other side of the path way were unable to see the LED screen. The drama was very interesting one with Ganesha, Hanuman, God of death Yama playing the main role.It was a socio fantasy type drama, with lots of creativity, humour and also message.The drama starts with a scene in Deva loka where in all the Gods offer prayers to Lord Ganesha and after the prayer they decide to take him in procession and immerse in water. Just before they start to do, Lord Ganesha appears and says, please don't immerse me in water as I have a very big task to do.All Devas (Gods) ask anxiously what could be that task. Just then Narada muni appears and is surprised to see Ganesha with no tusk (remember Ganesha is also called as Eka danta). Narada muni says, O Ganesha you are going to write a book. and Ganesha replies yes Iam going to write a book on Swami and His students on the occassion of His 85th birthday.and Ganesha says it is a secret and please don't tell any one. Now the scene moves to Puttaparthi. On the LED screen you see the 65 feet Hanuman statue from the Hill view stadium. It was beautifully done with clouds passing on the back drop of Hanuman and also a very sweet back ground music. As we(audience) all were immersed in the video suddenly the Hanuman on the screen disappears and only the Hill and clouds remain. Before we could imagine any thing a real Hanuman appears in the drama. This was to show that Hanuman after seeing Ganesha coming to Parthi comes down to the stadium in real. It was very perfectly done. Hanuman asks Ganesha about the book he is writing and Ganesha is surprised as how he came to know about the book and then he realises it is Narada who would have leaked his secret which no longer is a secret. Ganesha says, I have come to know about Karthik who did his MBA here.The whole drama was based on some heart squeezing incidents that happened in Prasanthi with students and Swami.The story now says, one day Karthik goes to darshan and hands over an envelope with a 100 rupee note.In the letter he says, Swami I heard that you are building a very huge hospital which is worth of crores of Rupees. I washed my own clothes for the past two months and saved this hundred rupees.I willconsider my self very fortunate if this hundred rupees can buy a brick for this noble hospital.Swami was very touched by this gesture from His dear student and says, this hundred rupee note is equal to100 crores.(while this was narrated,a beautiful video footage of Swami accepting letters from students was shown). While narrating this Hanuman compares this episode with that of the Rama bridge episode where in all the vanaras carry one stone each and make a bridge for Rama to reach Lanka. the next scene was very interesting. Here comes heavly built Yama (God of death) who is suprised to see Ganesha and Hanuman in Puttaparthi. Both of them ask Yama as how he came to Puttaparthi. and here comes the answer which made every one of laugh, Yama says, I was on my rounds and was on the way to Bangalore and after seeing you I stopped by. Yama also says, I rearly come to Puttaparthi as our beloved Lord is here to protect His devotees. Hanuman says, you can also be a part of Ganesha's divine task provided you share an incident which happened in Parthi and which is new. Yama says,yes, I remember this boy Karthik who fell very sick one day. The scene now shifts to two students enacting the role. Karthik is suffering from severe asthma. Next to him is his friend who helps Karthik to put him on the bed and prefers to even skip darshan and take care of Karthik. Karthik tells his friend, brother Iam feeling much better now, iam able to take care of my self, you please go to darshan. His friend leaves the place half heartedly as he didnt want to leave Karthik in such a situation.After the friend leaves, Karthik's condition gets more worse. The drama was now totally emotional.The way the student acted was fantastic and brought tears. The dubbing was also perfectly done and Karthik now prays to Swami, swami! my condition is getting worse and worse. Iam unable to breath any more and I don't think I will be able to have your darshan again. While this was going on the LED screen was showing the hostel room with a bed and a picture of Swami. While Karthik was undergoing the pain, his friend who went to darshan comes running and says, brother Karthik Swami is calling you please come for darshan. Ganesha and Hanuman who are listening the story from Yama get curious. Another humour here, Ganesha says, I was watching Karthik running to Sai Kulwath hall and I only saw (from the dais ...(remember the Ganesha idol which is on the dais)) and he went inside the interview room. Yama says, I know what happend in the interview room as I was ready to put the noose on Karthik, Swami took Karthik's asthma on Himself and suffered the pain for 10 minutes and He became normal. Karthik was healed like this and Yama said,Iam glad I didn't take away Karthik otherwise I would have been in trouble like I had with Markandeya. In the next scene Narada joins. Ganesha seemed little bit cross with Narada as he leaked the news of Ganesha writing a book. Narada says, Ganesha I have one episode to add to your book and here he sharesthe story of Karthik again who after completing his studies attends a job interview. The panel comprising of three people look at Karthik's resume and says O Sai baba's institution which does only bhajans and Keerthans also has MBA course. They laugh at Karthik and ask bit proudlyif Sai baba has given him any rings, chains etc.Karthik who listens to them silently gives a very strong reply. He gets up from his seat and says,Iam from a family which is very poor and from a village that doesn't know the alphabet A in englishlanguage. If Iam here, standing before you confidently and speaking to you it is only because of the education that I got from my institution. You say it improper spirituality, but when you compare the kind of education I was given, the love and care that I got from Sai baba, nothing in this world can match The interview board goes speechless for the answer from Karthik and they select Karthik for the job. Back to the school,Brother Karthik who now arrives in Parthi, tells his fellow brothers who are studying now, not to forget the good fortune they are bestowed with. Karthik reminds his brothers the words of his teacher, who says, You must install Swami in your hearts and take Him with you always where every you go.. That is the real Prasanthi Nilayam". While here in Prasanthi, you have the good fortune of speaking to Him, taking guidance from Him, even out side Prasanthi you will feel His Omniscience,Omnipresence and omnipotence.. Hanuman now says, as many have assembled here in Parthi, I will collect all their letters and pass it on to my Sai RAMA. so saying the Hanuman character collected letters from all the students and by the time he reached to Swami it was looking like a miny mountain which he is always seen carrying..Swami was very very impressed with His boys.. He spoke to them, gave padanamaskar.Swami then came down stairs and took pictures with every one. He also send a word for Sri.Karunakar,and also the makeup man and blessed them with a photo session.. Swami's children, this evening, showed what they really can do. Doing this kind of performance which was technologically advanced,perfect synchronisation of thoughts, words and deeds is not a small thing. In this busy era where every thing is running faster than time, it is definitely a very tough task to assemble this kind of gathering. All the students of Swami are working in high level jobs, which demands great amount of dedication, determination and also a very tight schedule. This drama, in particular, where in the actors should match the video on the LED screen is a very tough ask. Inspite of 100s of rehearsals one can'treach the six sigma as they call. I learnt that the boys had hardly a week time for rehearsing this master piece which was first of its kind in the history of Prasanthi Nilayam and also a rear one which wouldhave happened any where in the world.. Swami always says, Naa Pillalu Melimi bangaram (My children are pure GOLD). Unless your intentions are pure and holy, a noble offering like this cannot happen. It was all Swami will and all Swami's leela thatwe happened to see a masterpiece....
