Guest guest
This is wonderfully phrased soundly understood except what is meant by some day ego will give up This sounds lofty and ever hopeful . I am age 80 still working on it Somehow it can't be a mere intellectually knowing process. Sure you describe my struggles perfectly as you say ego is endlessly creative also victimizes .. where is our real help with this one seems its down to each of us ? But I just realized that for me, personally and practically, it's nothing but the age-old battle of Ego vs. Soul; Mind vs. Divine. No matter how inclusive I want to be, there is no way an ego and the soul are compatible. The ego is constantly fighting and struggling to keep itself separate, special, different, superior, and if that doesn't work, makes itself feel inferior, or a victim. It's constantly striving to get attention in whatever way it can. The soul, on the other hand, doesn't stoop to fighting - it just waits. It waits for the ego to someday realize and give up and put its unnecessary burdens down. This is the same battle as Rama vs. Ravana, Buddha vs. Mara, Jesus vs. Satan; except in this day and age, this battle is going on within each person, every minute of every day. Just like Ravana, Mara or Satan, the Ego doesn't give up, it keeps thinking of devious ways to maintain the upperhand. But it is infinitely consoling that in the end, Rama, Buddha and Jesus won, and so will the Soul. The ego will give in - not all at once - may be little by little, but it will give in. Guest guest
AUM SAI RAM Dear Saibandhu Smt.Sai Shravanthi, humble prostrations at the Lotus Feet of Bhagavan. Sai Ram. One of the pillars of Philosophy, can say Hindu philosophy, is " Unity in Diversity " . This happens when " Unity vs.Diversity " merges in to ONE i.e. Unity in Diversity. You have rightly said that ego & mind vs. Soul & Divine constantly fight, divide, differ, debate, and creates everything which splits the ONE into many. As you have said it is an age-old battle happening ever since BRAHMAN created and diversified this cosmos out of ITS own Will. The very word ' vs' indicates not one, but more than one raising to Diversities, such as good and bad, ugly and beauty, love and hate, joy and sorrow, heat and cold, compassion and cruel, big and small, sin and sinless and much more of such. The Diversity has caused the Past, the Present, and the Future.Otherwise there would be only the' PRESENT' where GOD exists in full glory for the Realized souls and great Saints. For us the time factor past, present and future exists, but for Brahman the three period of time doesn't exist. Brahman is beyond Time, Timeless. When the world exists for us, the diversity exists; when the world becomes world less i.e., no world , Diversity dissolves into Unity, Adwaita happens, Brahman is uncovered. When the ego, born of diversity goes God comes, Diversity goes Unity comes Yes; Ravana,Mara, Satan are diversification by Brahman ( as a Divine sports ) as well Rama, Buddha,Christ. Rama,Buddha, Christ happened because Ravana,Mara,Satan respectively existed. Both were complementary to each other. If the later were not there, the former would not have happened. As said by you, Ego does not go easily. Due to ego the embodied Soul, the jeevatma struggles, does countless Sadhana ( thinking it is the Doer and would accomplish anything including God Realization) for liberation, but finally fails and understands that it can not do anything without the Grace of God. The ego melted, the jeevatma stops everything out of shear disappointment, cries in desperation, and surrenders to God and " Just Waits ( as you have said) " . Then God appears like a LOVING MOTHER and merges the jeevatma in Paramatma; the Diversity disappears, Unity appears. The unity vs.diversity vanishes for that jeevatma. Only EGO was the culprit for the appearance of Diversity. In fact EGO was not there, is not there, and will not be there. All were, are and will be the creation of Diversity by the Ego cast on the Soul, finally before attaining Unification. A Divine Sports of God. We are the adopted children of Mother Maya and Maya is our adopted Mother. She loves us, the adopted children so much that she will not let loose her grip on her adopted children. Our real Mother is God and Mayamatha ( who herself is the creation of God) has separated us from God. Since we don't know of our real Mother, we are happy with our Mayamatha( Mother Maya) , until someone, a Guru, some scriptures, or some Divine Incarnation shake us to the Reality. Then our Sadhana starts to reach our real Mother. Yes; along with our prayer to real Mother to take us in Her laps, we can also pray our Adopted Mother Maya to release us from her grip to reach our real Mother, while expressing all our Gratefulness to Mayamatha for showering her Love on us since millions of years. Surely Mother Maya will tearfully send us to our real Mother. Extremely beautiful and grandeur is your " Unity vs. Diversity " Loving Sai Ram to all and praying Bhagavan to bless us all. - Ranganatha. Rao. This is a pre-destined outcome. Once the self gets a taste of its higher Self, the Soul (the Atma), the peace and bliss that accompanies the Soul, it will try to touch, feel and reach the Soul more and more. And the magical touch of the Soul heals the splintered pieces of the self that the ego created. It unifies all the broken, wounded pieces of the self into the divine Soul, the universal Soul, Brahman. Ego divides; Soul unifies. This is what Unity vs. Diversity means to me now. The diversity in the universe is only an illusion that the mind created. When the mind and the ego give in and stop striving to be diverse and separate, everything is unified into one entity - the one and only absolute reality - God. Guest guest
Sai Ram Maria, You're right - understanding it just the first step; practicing it is a whole another story! But for me, I hadn't even understood it until now - such topics didn't even interest me about a year or two ago. So I'm enjoying these new found 'aha' moments - they're exciting! As for practicing them, one step at a time.... you're already way ahead of a lot of people if you already recognize it in yourself - every person is at a different place in their journey, but in the end, I believe everyone will get there. No rush though... all in good time... we've got other lifetimes ahead... May Swami bless you in your journey!
