Om Sri Sairam dearest Sai Family,

A humble Sairam from the rainy Puttaparthi which is little bit cooler and full of bliss. The farmers who were waiting for a good rain, got their prayers answered bit late which may not fetch them a bumper crop but at least will be of great help during the scotching summer with good supply of drinking water

Today 20th August 2009 was a memorable day to the group of devotees who came to Parthi from the states of Madhya Pradesh and Chathisgarh. About 3200 Sai Youth, brothers and sisters, are here in Parthi and out of which about 80% of them are first timers. It is a welcome sign that many of the youth are coming into Sai Fold and Swami is very slowly and silently working on His mission and before every one would realise the command will be in the hands of the Sai Youth to run this society, to take this Kali Age into Sathya Yuga.

This afternoon Swami blessed us with His divine darshan at 5:10pm. Swami took a full round and accepted letters from many devotees. He even stopped in the middle and spoke to the actors who were dressed up in various costumes.. Swami then went to the inner mandir and came out on the dais at 6:10pm. The Youth had a very small drama entitled " Manasa Bhajare Guru Charanam " based on the famous bhajan sung by our beloved Lord,in Uravakonda village, in 1940 when He declared to the whole world as who he is and for whom He came for.

The drama had teachings of Swami, Adi Sankaracharya and also the episode of Astavakra who teaches the Atmic principle to King Janaka.

It was a very simple but very well enacted drama. After the 40 minute drama like an icing on the cake they played the track Narayana Bhaja Naryan Narayana Bhaja Naryana... a bhajan sung by Swami which is in pure hindi, in which Swami explained about all the avatars and also the significance of the descending of avatars on various occasions.

It was a very nice experience to listen Swami's sweet voice and even Swami seemed to enjoy His own voice..

After the drama, it was the turn of the ladies' and there was beautiful devotional songs programme which was just divine. After a beautiful Sai Evening arathi was given to Swami close to 7:30pm...

The Madhya Pradesh and Chathisgarh youth were very happy for the love showered by Swami on them and why not? The kind of seva they did in Puttaparthi was amazing. Every year thousands come and go from Parthi. The Youth wanted the Abode of our beloved Lord to be much cleaner and tidier.. Wasting no time and not waiting for any help from others, they took the initiative in cleaning up the whole Prasanthi Nilayam. They cleaned up the whole ashram which btw is full of ice cream cups and coffee cups scattered every where. They cleaned up the surroundings of Museums even removed the weeds and the whole cleaning operation took 2 full days for the youth, a lesson for every one of us and a reminder for all of us to at least keep our Lord’s Abode clean.. Cleanliness is next to Godliness.

The Youth were also blessed by satsangs with Prof. Anil Kumar for two days in a row. The talks were very encouraging for all of them and Prof.Anil Kumar, blessed with an ability of reading the pulse of the audience, spoke on Sai Teachings and the need for the youth to implement Swami’s teachings.

As many of them didn’t speak or understand English, Mr.Hari Ranjan Rao District collector of Jabalpur, a youth icon did an excellent job in translating Professor Anil Kumar’s talks in hindi.

The youth had some interesting questions to ask which I want to share as it is of great help for all the spiritual aspirants..

One sister wanted to know the difference between Profession and Practice.

Prof.Anil Kumar replied Profession is for living and practice is Action. It is the practice that is more important than the profession. A doctor is a profession and the act of treating a patient with love is action. Swami wants the latter to be done with utmost love and devotion.

When we come across a situation where there is huge well infront of you and a huge pit behind you. Where do you go in such a situation?

AK. Why do you think that what you see infront of you is a well. It may look like a well but may not be a well. It is nothing but negative thinking. Instead, if you think positively, and go ahead, even if you fall in the well you will be saved by God. If you think you are going to fall then you are certainly going to fall come what may. Always think that THE BEST IS GOING TO HAPPEN IN MY LIFE and your life will be full of happiness..

What if some body says ill about Swami? How should I face such a situation?

The same question was put to Swami. One devotee came to Swami and said, Swami many of my friends are talking ill about You. I can’t bear this. Please tell me what to do. Swami with a smile replied.. You have ears so you listen to all these allegations. Don’t forget you also have legs to walk away from such a situation.

What is the difference between Confidence and Overconfidence? Many a times I think I can achieve this but people around me term it as overconfidence? Any thoughts on this?

AK. Simple example… Iam professor. Many like my teaching and I have been successfully teaching for the past 46 years which shows that Iam capable of calling my self as a Professor and that is confidence. Where as on the other hand, If I think I can sing well and aspire to be a singer that is my over confidence. Many a times you yourself will be in a position to judge your self provided you really judge without any bias.

Many a times, I end up in a conversation where my own friends talk all bad things. I love them but I don’t know how to avoid such situation?

AK. The same question was put to Swami. Swami replied in a very simple and a bit humorous way..Many devotees here can sing. Among them some have a very sweet voice and some don’t. When I don’t like one’s voice, I just close my ears with My hair that’s all…

What is that quality that Swami doesn’t want to have in Youth?

AK. Instead of thinking what to get rid off, think what you need. What to retain. Simple example given by Swami. One man, before going to sleep, prayed to God to bless him to have a dream of Nandi (the holy bull). He also prayed not to have the dream of Pandi(the pig).To ask not to have the dream of Pandi, the pig is negative. So ultimately what happened to the person.. he had the dream of Pandi the Pig and not Nandi the Bull. So all your thoughts should be positive.

When I have to say about Swami to my friends, how should I describe Him?

Swami is not to be described He is to be experienced. Instead of describing Baba, you LIVE in Baba. You practice His teachings of Sathya, Dharma and Prema. When you practice this, all your friends will follow you. If you go on praising and describing Swami instead of practicing His teachings, all your friends will think some thing is wrong with you..

What do you know about Swami’s next avatar? When is it going to happen?

AK. The question is like this. You have been served all the best of the sweets, best of hots, best of the food before you and instead of partaking you are asking what will be served tomorrow? Finish this delicious food NOW. Why ask about tomorrow. Only when you have eaten today’s food, tasted and enjoyed, you have the right to ask about tomorrow’s menu.
