Guest guest
Sairam, I did some search around Red Cross. Looks like Indian Red Cross (www.indianredcross.org) is in site there in Bihar and are helping a lot of people. The 1 thing which is different with Red Cross and why it might help our Sai Sevadhals is the fact that they give Emergency Releif Managment Training Please check the latest Newsletter on update in Bihar by INRCS http://www.indianredcross.org/flood9.pdf Also I am trying to contact US Red Cross over here to see some advanced Technology could be used to relieve the water issue. Training Details http://www.redcross.org/static/file_cont5322_lang0_1945.pdf You could also enquire with the INRCS over getting trained with the above training(s) over there... 1 more I found out that there is some 80 Year Old Veteran, named Nilendu Sanyal who has good knowledge of Bihar's water resources Department as well as Flood Control Commission. He was the Engineer in cheif there. I would recommend if you/your team could contact him to get to know the latest American Technology to Plug Breaches around Embarkment which is claimed to drastically reduce Flood level. Sairam, Iam trying my best (with Sai's blessings) to get as much Info I could. The Latest request from them is the fact that our Indian Army had given out special tents which could accomodate like 20 people to China's devasted Earthquake victims in Sichuan. These are special tents which they are of acute shortage. Sairam, please let me know if there is anything we could do from here in US (I live in NJ). --- On Tue, 9/2/08, Krishna Mohan <pvk_mohan wrote: Krishna Mohan <pvk_mohan[sBOI-post] Bihar Flood Relief and Rescue Operations Date: Tuesday, September 2, 2008, 6:44 AM Sairam, Sevadal of Sri Sathya Sai Seva Organisation, Bihar and Jharkhand are already at the site and relief material from all quarters being collected an dispatched to the affected areas for onward distribution by local Samithy Sevadal. The two most imprtant things that need the attention of all is providing Rescue and Relief material to the marooned people and rehabilitating the evacuated people. I understand from people residing closer to these affected districts that many organisations are working on providing relief material and rehabilitating the rescued people. The News channels report that out of 31 lakh affected people till now only 5 laks people were evacuated leaving the majority of the people still marooned. Providing Relief material to the marooned people and rescuing the marooned people is a highly skilled job requiring special resources and presently only Govt of India with the help of armed forces is doing this activity which is proceeding at a very slow pace. Through this mail i am requesting people who know others or who by themselves are knowledgeable in rescuing and providing relief to marooned people to kindly educate us and also provide information about organisations who can help them with their specialized skills.
