Dear friends, Sairam. The festival of Shivarathri is fast approaching and every one would be busy in fasts,night jagaranas etc.It is being observed that most of the devotees observe fast by taking liquid diet and fruits which naturally kill the hunger to a large extent and one fails to understand the meaning behind these fasts.Infact the idea behind these fasts and night jagaranas is to be nearer to GOD always throughout the day and night by singing bhajans in the praise of SAI and the namasmarana of Swami or any other GOD of one,s choice. Bhajan is a food material for relieving the spiritual hunger.Namasmarana is the life and breath of every one.By reciting the names of the LORD and singing bhajans one can experience the company of GOD who is always with us,in us,around,above us loving all to expect from to love all and serve all as HE has been rendering service for the last 82 years.It is being observed that Swami has been giving more and more importance bhajans at Prashanthi Nilayam and Swami has been stressing the same in his divine discourses as it is the bhajan and nmamasmarana wehich rescues the humanity from all ills of their karmas. Hence I humbly request and appeal to all our Sai devotees to spend the Shivarathri excluisively on singing bhajans and reciting the names of the GOD without giving too much importance to fasting and other rituals though they are part of the celebrations which have to be respected and honoured but not at the cost of bhajans and namasmaranas.Please under any circumstances never go to many cinema hall for shivarathri jagaranas or never play any cards to keep awake in the nights etc. SAIRAM.IN SAI SEVA,JP REDDY,NALGONDA 508001 AP INDIA.
