Guest guest
It is an irony that good people suffer much. Swami clarified this point. Actually they don't really suffer since they always contemplate on God and they are immune to the sufferings. In fact the reason for suffering is thick 'body consciousness'. If some body is above body consciousness, nothing will affect him. Many saints have lived their life in utter discomfort but they were filled with Divine Love. Hence they were never aware of their physical illness. Swami in one of His discourses has said that when paralytic stroke attacked him during the 60s, he kept the flame of the heart unwavering and steady. Hence he could withstand 4 massive heart attacks. When our attention is focussed on the Divine, the physical sufferings do not touch our inner conscious.Swami has beautifully explained this condition with a fine example. We find that the expiry date is printed on medicines and drugs. The medicine or tonic may still remain in the bottle well after the expiry date but it has no effect. Likewise when Swami so wills, He can annule the effects of the Karma of any individual. In this connection we may take the example of remission granted to certain prisoners due to their good conduct. Though the prisoner has to undergo full life imprisonment, the Authorities may reduce the period of imprisonment due to the good behavior and conduct of the individual prisoner. We are all undergoing the effects of Karma in this life. When we follow righteous conduct and behavior, our sentence also can be reduced suitably due to the grace of Bagawan. Hence, let us not feel that we are destained to suffer endlessly. Surely God's grace can intervene and we too will get remission. Sairam, Saisaran.
