Their word is the law that we must obey. Their holy feet is where we prostrate and worship sincerely. Meanwhile since you haven't come across your guru yet, there is the Upaguru (Inner Guru) who will guide you. Others outside this guru-sishya relationship are like leela and maya. Then there is the Ishdevata, the deity you feel an affinity with. Do you have an Ishtadevata? If so, its best to proceed with the mantra of the Ishdevata after paying obeisances to Lord Ganapati. If you haven't got an Ishdevata, then its essential to first learn the " God-Realisation " mantra for Lord Ganesha and recite it everyday until you can see Him in your mind's eye. Afterwards its fine to choose a deity whom you feel close to and whose mantra you will focus on. Right now assuming you haven't done mantras continuously, pls consider reciting the mantra for Ganesha " Om GuNg Ganapataye Namaha " . Concentrate on it for 108 times each day in the early morning before sunrise. Do it for 90 days then stop and rest. Then write back for the next step.
