Dear Amitayu,

Wonderful to hear you got Shree Saligram. Prayer procedure is as follows:

Simple Method for Worshipping Shalagrama-shila

-------------

Items Required:

Silver throne

• Yellow cloth

• Sandal paste

• Gangajal

• Tulsi mala

• Brass plate and pot

• Dried Tulsi leaves in silver box

In the brass pot put few drops of Gangajal and fill it with fresh

water. Place the sila on the brass plate and perform abhishek (pour

water) on the sila chanting " Om Namoha Narayana " . Now lift the shila,

wipe it with a soft cloth and place it on the throne. Apply sandal

paste as a 'Tilak'. Offer a few leaves of dried Tulsi. Light incense

or oil lamp.

You may also do japa with the Tulsi mala 27 times or 108 times

reciting Om Namoha Narayana. Some people would put fresh tulsi leaves

on the altar at the right and left sides of Shalagrama-shila

depending on availability of the leaves.

Btw, it is said that the presence of a Shaligram in a place,

santifies the radius of 24 miles around it. This is mentioned

somewhere in one of the sastras (I think, but cannot remember which

one).

Hope this helps.

Om Hari Hara
