Dear Uma,

 

Yes you can wear the mala your friend gifted you even though you already

have one from Rudra Centre for prayers.

 

If we wear a mala with 108 beads which is used for chanting mantras, the

power of the mantras reverabate and surround us, giving a sense of

well-being, security and peace.

 

However, there are also folks who believe that Japa malas (for mantras)

should not be worn. Its actually a matter of personal choice and comfort

whether a Japa Mala should be worn. Its not mentioned in holy books

that it can't be.
