Dear Rajesh,

If your mala is a Sumarni Japa Mala or 108 beads Japa Mala, they can be used for counting mantras in your hands before wearing. If your mala is some other type, it can be placed on a plate while you chant malas with a Japa Mala then afterwards wear it.

Om Namah Shivaya

Should I be doing it the other way round (meaning wear the mala first and then chant the mantra 27 times)? or can someone explain the proper procedure?> > Regards,> > Rajesh>
