Guest guest
Dear Bajkhedawal, You are right about color of rudrakshas also playing a certain role in their functions especially when applied with some principles of Western Color Therapy and Puranic (Scriptural) 'observations' of beads belonging to the Elaeocarpus gantrus Roxb classification. Classification depends entirely on nature, i.e. maturity, type and loction of the tree. However when color shades overlap, it is believed by some serious rudraksha collectors and enthusiasts that there are currently no standard for color grading/classification itself. Everyone has a different opinion depending on their background, lineage and how experienced they are with rudraksha studies. After wearing new beads of rudraksha for a few months, may even be weeks due to climate, body chemicals and sweat, many types of rudrakshas turn dark brown, darkest brown and 'black'. During modern times, 'True White' rudraksha do exist but they are extremely rare. Their prices are higher if they are found in any harvest. Shastras mention as follows: a) White rudrakshas are for Brahmins. b) Red by Kshatriyas. c) Yellow by Vaishyas. d) Black by Shudras. However, there is no acceptance for this in our modern times on practical grounds. By the way, most of the questions you've been asking to date, are dealt with in Sri K. N. Seetha Ji's excellent book and more. Please try to obtain a copy if you can.
