meaning when mala use for jap gets broken OR mala string is broken

Hello,

 

I'm using rudraksha mala & sphatik mala daily for jap.

 

Can anyone pls let me know the meaning when mala used for jap is broken

or when the mala strings is broken. Do we need to tie the mala in new

string & use again or should we get a new mala for jap.
