Dear Lisa,

As the mantra for Lord Narasimha is for destroying evil forces and gaining protection, it can be started on any day of the week. Perform this Mantra Sadhana for 45 days. If its a very difficult, lengthy and harmful situation the devotee is in, then extend the sadhana to 90 days. Obtain a picture of Lord Narasimha and put it in a photo frame.

It is best to perform the mantra 5 times a day, meaning doing 108 rounds on a Rudraksha japa mala each time. Begin the first round in the morning after a bath. Make offerings by placing some flowers, fruits, unsalted nuts, sweets, honey and milk. Light a candle and some incense. As the days go by, replace the flowers and fruits every few days. Replace nuts, sweets, honey and milk every morning of the sadhana.

The daily timings of 5 X 108 rounds that the mantra should be undertaken are:-

1) Morning after bath,

2) Morning tea time,

3) Lunch time,

4) Afternoon tea time,

5) After Dinner time and a short walk for digestion or relaxation.

Mantra Pronounciation:-

"Narasimha Ta Va Da So Hum" in a phonetic way is like this:

Na-ra-sim-ha

Ta as in "tardy"

Va as in "Va-ra-na-si"

Da as in "dasan"

So as in "So Hum"

Hum as in "hummer"

Regarding Hanumanji, He is relevant towards the incarnation of Lord Vishnu called Lord Rama who is righteous and more peaceful in nature. He is loyal and faithful to Lord Rama. Those wishing to pray to Lord Rama for favors would get more benefits if they also pray to Hanumanji or Anjaneyaji. Hanumanji is not classified as a beast (unlike lions or tigers). His mantras although also very powerful, serve different levels of realms or dimensions.

Vedic lore mentions there was a powerful evil ruler who could never be defeated in battle of any sort. He could not be defeated during daylight hours nor at night. He could not be defeated by man or beast. He could not be defeated indoors or outdoors. Lord Vishnu then reincarnated as Narasimha to come to earth for destroying the evil ruler. Narasimha is a half man and half lion (beast) being. He found the home of the evil tyrant and waited till twilight when He entered, found the tyrant and dragged him to the threshold saying "It is twilight, neither day nor night. It is on the threshold of your dwelling, neither inside nor outdoor. I am neither man nor beast but a combination of both, therefore I now destroy you. Narasimha then killed the tyrant by ripping him to pieces. Henceforth, Narasimha has been invoked for gaining freedom from evil situations.

Jai Shree Gurudev Namaha
