Guest guest
The skanda puranam details the glory of rudraksha saying, " The wise who keeps the rudraksha on the head and bathes, gets the benefits of bathing in ganges, this is beyond doubt. " A bath in the Ganga here is traditionally believed to be a ritualistic means to wash away sins and liberate oneself from the cycle of births and re-births.While it might not be possible for many of us to physically take bath in this holy river, a similair merit might be obtainable with the help of the holy rudraksha, and by chanting the invocation mantra: " Ganga Cha Yamuna Chaiva Godavari Saraswati, Narmada Sindhu Kaveri Jalesmin Sannidhim Kuru " The literal meaning of this mantra is: " In this water, I invoke the presence of divine waters from the rivers Ganga, Yamuna, Godavari, Saraswati, Narmada, Sindhu and Kaveri. These rivers are considered as goddesses and I pray to them for considering me for their blessings. Vishnu Puran mentions that people get rid of their sins by even taking the name of goddess Ganga and remembering her. Now. reciting this mantra with a sincere heart and with rudraksha on top of the head would bring one the benefit of taking bath in the holy waters and the liberatory merits associated with it.
