Worshipping religious trees, respecting old trees. Why?

Some trees are respected highly in Hinduism like Banyan tree, Bilva,

Aswadha tree Etc.

The Bodhi tree is respected by Buddhists as Buddha got Gyan when he

meditated under the Bodhi tree.

Leaves of Bilva are used in worshipping Lord Siva.

We use fresh Mango leaves as Thoranam at weddings; tie them to a

thread at house entrance.

I know one Neem tree at least 100 years old in Andhra Pradesh which

if one prays and requests, it grants their wishes.

Many people write a wish and tie with a yellow cloth (turmeric

soaked) to the branch of a tree.

There is a community in Siberia which still practices Vedic

traditions. It is cut off from the main land Russia. They have

several cedar trees (Deva daru- also grows in Himalayas) which are

few hundred years old. Local people believe that carrying a small

wood disc (cut like a rupee coin), Wear like a pendant raises their

energy level.

I will be glad to provide a link if any one wishes to know more

about them.

We asked one Swamijee why the old trees and are to be respected.

His answer.

" When a person reaches certain age usually about 80 years they do a

puja called " sahasra Chandra darshana yoga "

Means he has seen 1000 Chandro dayas i.e. from the beginning of

ascending lunar cycle.

That is considered auspicious.

But now most people due to indoor living and or with the day life

style have the opportunity to see chandrodaya. Then for get about

1000 chandrodaya

All the planets are in Akash in the sky. There are billions of

stars, planetary systems, and many Lokas. They do not wear any

clothes like us These old trees being out side and being exposed to

all the planets and stars directly have a great deal of cosmic

energy stored in them and hence they have a great energy .Worship

them, respect them do not cut them or at least hug the tree You will

get some thing good from them for free. " .

These days even exposure of bodies to sun is limited.

After all the sacred Rudraksha are the seeds of a tree. "
