Namaste Aksha.Rudra,

You are right about sharing information regarding rudraksha with people

around us and that 99% of people ask what they can gain by wearing or

worshipping rudraksha. Thank Shiva there is still the 1% left who

knows that Shiva is with them and they accept whatever Shiva gives

them. Great idea to plant rudraksha if someone has a garden or backyard.

Those who perform periods of mantra sadhana will find that things

change for the better within 90 days, sometimes less. Those who cannot

be bothered about mantra sadhana and expect rudraksha to work

like " magic bullets " (quoting Sola Ji here), will find they feel lost

and can't find their way.

Worshipping rudraksha each Monday (Shiva's day) will also help.

Maintaining and conditioning rudrakshas at least every month or 3

months are also important. This can be done by washing the beads in

gentle soapy water, rinsing with spring water then rose water. After

that the beads can be left to dry for one or 2 days in warm climates

but longer in cold, damp climates. When the beads are thoroughly dry,

sandalwood essential oil can be mixed with a cold-pressed carrier oil

(like almond) and applied to the beads with a soft toothbrush.

Doing charity by gifting rudraksha to people who need it, is good

dharma and seva. The giver of rudraksha gets great punya (merits).

This is mentioned in one of the holy scriptures but I can't remember

which one. Even by giving one bead each of 5 mukhi Lord Shiva

Rudraksha to several people is a good way to begin. The recipients can

be family, relatives, friends or colleagues. It can even be strangers

at orphanages, hospitals, hospices and other places. Performing charity

means that one is not expecting rewards other than the betterment of

the people who receives the rudraksha. By the same token, giving to

family, relatives, friends and colleagues, one should give

unconditionally and never expect any return or favors. By not

expecting things in return, one is truly giving. By expecting

something in return, its called " exchange " .

Om Namah Shivaya
