Guest guest
Namaste Gina, Enjoyed reading your previous message and this message too. What you've said is very true and put in a refreshing perspective, thank yo for sharing your thoughts. One of the reasons why there are often misunderstandings about women's wearing of rudraksha during menses is because the Indian subcontinent has over 300 million God/desses in the Hindu pantheon alone and uncountable religions, sects, subsects, cults, guru lineages, etc. There are strict Hindus and Liberal Hindus (Smarta), etc. Each of them teach different practices although some are quite similar to one another. Folks from strict Vaishnavite families for example, would not allow their women to wear rudraksha or other holy item such as Tulsi beads/malas, handle any spiritual thing, not enter the kitchen to cook nor the puja room. Another example is of wives and daughters of strict Shaivaite upbringing who observe the same rules as a strict Vaishnaviate family unit. But other Liberal Vaishnavite or Shaivaite families do not observe such restrictions. Thus we have those who would wear rudrakshas during menses and those who won't. Most people from Tantic and Nath lineages are even more liberal. As we both know, most Hindus also read or study Holy Scriptures. But they may not necessarily have studied the passages relevant to rudraksha that are contained in (some examples): Shiva Purana, Padma Purana, Rudraksha Jabalopanishad, Skanda Purana, Srimad Devi Bhagavatam, etc. Sorry to hear you were upbraided for wearing rudrakshas during menses many years ago by an ignorant person. Unfortunately such people still exist and continue to exist, and come out of the woodwork every once in a blue moon. What you said to this person is great. Nice to hear you offer songs to Shiva! This sure is a form of devotion and I'm sure He enjoys it and continues to showere blessings upon you. Great that you see the Shakti in Shiva and vice versa and that All Is One (Oneness). You remind me of a dear Shakta whom I met about 10 years ago You also put things so well in the last few paragraphs of your message. Absolutely understand how its not possible to function from that platform you mentioned in every waking hour. Very few people would be able to do this unless they are ascetics. Indeed all paths lead to the same summit. Thanks for being a good companion on our travels too. Its invaluable to us. And write any time you wish.
