Making Sri Lakshmi as a partner in your prosperity

Making Sri Lakshmi as a partner in your prosperity.

This post of mine is reposted with additional information, and some

which I forgot before and few additional comments by my friends who

practice thisform of worship.

This form of worship is as brought to our attention and taught by

Sri Harish Johari author of

several books on Astro gemology, ayurvedic cooking Etc. He is a well

known Tantrik and good friend of mine.

This is as taught by him, practiced by me and several hundreds or

even thousands of people in US and outside India. Always produced

great results. (I say this without any hesitation)

There is nothing new in this. It is a practical application of what

ever it is known to us already

The first part most will agree, but the second part of the worship

is where some have problems with., As people often for get the

Upanishad prayer " Twameva Mata—Twameva Dravinam---- Twameva Sarvam

mama deva deva "

People generally ignore to practice the last part " Twameva

dravinam " .Here you acknowledge you are my prosperity (Paisa-dollar)

and you are every thing.

This can be done on any Friday or Thursday at " Go Dhulika

lagnam " .That is done either in the time of sun rise or sunset. or at

any time on pornami(full moon day, as often one wishes

Every thing worn is yellow including the clothes the worshippers

ware and the cloth on which either the, Picture, Vigraha or Yanthra

is placed.

The picture of the Sri Laksmi should have 2 elephants with tusks

up.Better if the water is flowing from the tusk. Flowing water

suggests lack of stagnation. (Things are moving).

If that form of picture is not available one can get 2 elephants

(always in pairs) from any handicraft store (with tusks always UP.

The flowing water can be added with a small water fountain. (Table

top fountains are available in US for 15 dollars).Hare Krishna

catalogs also have some. I am not sure of the availability in India.

The Sari (color) of Sri Lakshmi is again yellow. This picture is

difficult to

obtain as most of the pictures Sri Lakshmi is shown wearing Red

sari. ( use water color or Photoshop)

Divine mother is generally shown to be wearing saris in 3 different

colors. Red denotes energy (Bija mantra is Hreeem- Shakti beeja or

also called as Maya Bija)

White denotes Knowledge (Gnana). (Beeja Mantra is Eim- for

Saraswathi and Knowledge)

Yellow denotes Money- Prosperity. The beeja Mantra is Shreem).

Yellow also denotes Mooladhara chakra. Every prosperous, charismatic

people have a strong mooladhara). An elephant represents

strength and symbol of muladhara Chakra. If one does not have a good

base or root chakra they will not have charisma and the ability to

command and generally not wealthy.

Also one can get statues as an alternative (small) and get them

painted. Some generous souls can Photoshop the picture and post it

for others. That is also a Kind of SEVA.

The first part is simple, read any strotra you like, like Sri

Lakshmi ashtotaram or Maha Laksmi asthatakam, offer incense, Ghee

lamp and

Naivedyam of Gudannam (Rice cooked with Jaggery and ghee-(-Gudanna

priyayi Namah-Lalitha sahasra namam). Some offer sheera made with

ghee. Divine mother also like saffron add a few small pieces to what

ever offering you make. Most important part is share with others,

not only friends and relatives, but also with poor people.

My friend says most of the problems can be solved at the dinner

table. Every one is a good mood. Hence the offering of this

particular food (Vedic sampradaya). No one refuses good sweet food

and be agreeable unless they are diabetic.

Some recite Durga sapta sloki notably Sarva man gala mangaleye- and

daridrya dukha bhya harini --sarvopakara-sadrarth chitta several

times.

Anuradha Padwal's CD is very good and available from Rudraksha-

ratna.com

The second part.

This is one some people have problem Putting in to practice.

Write on a piece of paper all your assets i.e. Sthirasthi and

charasthi (lands, houses, stocks, jewellery, present income from

salary of business etc)

Say to Sri Lakshmi " This is all yours " for each Item (Idam Na

mama)

" Every thing is yours and nothing is mine I am only a custodian " .

Here you are practically applying " dravinam twameva---twameva sarvam

mama "

Make a commitment any additional income you get than present you

will happily spend a percentage as a charity to the needy.

Make an honest agreement with your heart and fulfill commitments

every quarter after checking your finaces.Usually people herein USA

make 10 percent of extra gains. That seems to be a lot of money

But 90 % is yours to keep why stingy?

Some Ideas are feeding deaf and dumb, blind people, giving money to

old age homes, cremation expenses for the poor etc.

Do not postpone it for later part of your life when you are well

settled .If your life is worth one rupee if you are of the age of

50, Remember you already spent 60 -70 paisa.

Thanks to all those who shared this information. I also do practice

this and I am doing well.

This is an edited article by Sriram.B.Thanks to him

Dasamsa (Tithing) is a spiritual law of giving, where a person gives

10% of their increase back to the source.

Those who have practiced tithing have reported tremendous

positive results in their finances, relationships, health and

careers.

Tithing helps to establish order in mind and affairs; and when order

exists,

debt is vanquished. All conditions that are not in order are

eliminated. New avenues of supply open up. Intuition is strengthened.

Giving opens the door for receiving.

Tithing is the best-known and most practical method of consecrating

all your finances to God. Tithing will help solve the conditions

that create debt.

This has been accomplished by thousands of others; it can be done by

you.

Would it be wiser for me to wait before deciding to tithe?

If you feel an inner urge to tithe, now is the time to make a

start. Those

who wait until they feel they have abundance to spare usually never

begin.

In Hinduism, one's standard of living is measured by the four aims:

dharma

(virtuous conduct), artha (wealth), Kama (enjoyment) and moksha

(liberation). Dharma governs artha and Kama so that they are not

overly self-centered. Tithing is a dharmic act. Your standard of

living will be spiritually higher, and in many cases the tither's

standards are raised culturally and financially as well.

Will my income improve if I depend totally on God to help?

As you tithe faithfully and your affairs become established in

divine order,

your visible supply will increase. You will be able to avoid debt and

to learn to live as befits a child of God. The tithe always returns

to you, the tither, as further prosperity and abundance for you and

for your loved ones. You can't give anything away but that it

eventually comes back to you, even God's money.

Then tithing is an act of faith. Is this correct?

Yes, tithing is an act of faith. When you give love, you become

receptive to God's blessing of love and grace. Tithing is a positive

use of the law of karma.

When you give freely and joyously with the consciousness of plenty,

you draw back to yourself abundance and many happy experiences

People are most aware of the negative karmic effects in their life.

It is easy to blame Karma, planets, their mother in law, their

higher officers, government and Kali Yuga

But when they become free in their giving, they experience more in

return. In conforming to the divine law of karma, wonderful things

occur in their lives. Karmic effects (being positive, negative or

mixed) are created

unknowingly by most Hindus and knowingly by some. To use this law to

your best advantage, ask for divine guidance and wisdom in spending

your money. You will be delighted to see how much more you can do

with it and all the benefits that will return to you.

I have not even given a dollar or a rupee to the temple /helped

poor, did feed hungry people for a longtime. Now I am being

encouraged to tithe?

When you ceased to give, did you not feel as though you had closed

an inner door? Many devotees give a little something as a means of

opening the way into a

larger measure of loving, living and giving, even if they do not

tithe.

How do I decide where to pay my dues?

This benefactor could be in your community, or 10,000 miles away. Or

there may be a temple in your community that you and your family

worship that would be strengthened and encouraged by your support.

Choose an

institution that will grow; it is helping the poor and bring

spiritual dividends.

Wisely choose a worthy temple, or institution, an old age home, a

school for deaf and dumb that you feel good about paying your tithe

to.

It only means ten percent of his income, small or large. Someone

earning $300 a

month or someone earning $300,000 dollars a month is giving the same

proportionate amount.

What about tithing of one's time?

Tithing can and should also be

applied to time, skills and talents. For example, if a devotee is a

carpenter or seamstress, or a computer professional those skills may

help a local institution, or a charitable organization or helping

poor. Everyone, no matter what their skills, can give ten percent of

their time each week in service to their

religious institution or for helping the needy.

What are some of the abuses of tithing?

Many clever people who are in

business create " tithing shelters. "

Others are happy to tithe to their own family members or to people

whom they expect to pay back by loyalty, or to get an article

written about them in the news media as they have a thirst for

applause. Some do because they save on taxes.

The Singaporeans or the Malaysians get no tax benefits from tithing.

They tithe

because of their heart, and therefore, punya, good merit, comes back

to them.

So, we can see it as a spiritual practice, not an intellectual

practice.

Tithing, giving one-tenth of one's income, possessions or time, is a

deeply religious commitment. It is not a business proposition. It is

a religious commitment, based on the principle that 100 percent of

one's energy comes from God, 100 percent of one's belonging comes

from God, 100 percent of one's activity and creativity comes from

God. God gives back 90 percent. And God and the Gods keep 10 percent

for their work. What is their work? Uplifting humanity through

religious organizations of all kinds.

Some people think,

" If I tithe, I'll get lots of money. " That isn't what was said. It

was said that

God will pour blessings upon you.

You may suddenly lose your headaches, or a backache may disappear. Or

you may find that your spouse is getting along real well with you, or

that the plumbing that was always getting stuck is no longer stuck,

or that the person at the bank who was always hassling you has been

transferred. These little miracles of perfect timing take place, and

you say, " I can't believe this is all due to tithing. "

You have to check it out in order to know for yourself.

Tithing is an ancient Indian practice having its roots in Agamas and

Vedas for those who think this is a Christian practice. The spread of

massive spread of Christianity is because of this singular practice

of 'Dashamsa'
