Please post the same to all sai groups. All, Aruna is doing better now. Doc took almost 4-5hrs to change IV lines for her. It was hard for the doc to find the right vessels/veins in her swallon body. She has 2 IV's around her neck and 1 on her left wrist. Latest blood report was better. WBC count is coming down. It had reached 43 in the evening and currently its 39, which is good and hoping it to go down more eventully. Her Blood Pressure looks to be stable averaging 72. Sugar level is around 150, which is ok. Her blood is thin (which is good for the pump circulating blood) and bleeding is in control so far. Physically, Aruna is making movements. She tries to move her hands and make some expressions with her face. Her face expression reflects pain to me. Nurses were able to wash/clean her back easily. Her Eyes are swallon, so she has 1/4th of eye lids open. Her right thigh has reduced swelling by 3cms. Nurse is washing her hair tonight . Plz keep praying for Aruna!!Thanks for everything all of you are doing for Aruna!!Charan Laying all at the feet of Sai, N.Priya On Fri, Nov 27, 2009 at 8:07 PM, priya nagarathinam <priyarathinam wrote: Sairam Manishaji, Due to all our prayers the surgery went well. But still her kidney and legs need to function well.So still she needs our prayers. Please find the update below about her posted in the websitehttp://www.caringbridge.org/visit/arunaramappa.'>http://www.caringbridge.org/visit/arunaramappa. Please post the same updates and ask our devotees to pray for her today also so that her kidney and legs start functioning well due to our Saima. "The doctors reported that the surgery went very well this morning. They said while they were cleaning out the area around Aruna's heart, they noticed some movement in the right ventricle and although they could not see the left ventricle because it was under the heart they suspect it was moving as well - something they didn't expect to see - so that was a positive sign. They closed her chest and said that the VADs (Ventricular Assist Devices - Aruna has 2 of them) were actually working better with her chest closed - again, something they weren't expecting. They didn't look at her leg during the operation because the Vascular Team had looked at it earlier this morning, and because it's getting neither better nor worse - they didn't think there was any urgency in dealing with it. The doctors spent a lot of time answering our many questions. Some of the things we learned: they are not sure if Aruna is truly diabetic, or if her sugar levels were initially so high because of other problems she was having her lungs are doing the best of all her damaged organs there was a blood clot in her leg which caused some enzymes to be released which had an adverse effect on the kidneys, so Aruna is on dialysis. The bad news is, kidneys cannot regenerate themselves, so Aruna is looking at long-term dialysis needs her liver was damaged by a virus (maybe the H1N1 virus, maybe something else). The doctors expect that if the heart recovers on its own, the liver will recover on its own as well they are not sure what caused her heart to fail - it's not typical in H1N1 cases - and they may never know Aruna is the first patient in the state of Colorado to receive this experimental H1N1 drug - Peramivir - and the CDC is following her case very closely Aruna is what they call an "outlier" - her situation is unlike anything this hospital has ever dealt with. The staff here is not used to not knowing the answers and not being able to immediately fix things - so they are having to force themselves to be patient just like the rest of us.
