Sairam, 9th way of Navavidha Bhakthi: Atmanivedana

Atmanivedana – surrender to God:

Atmanivedana is self surrender, sarvasya saranagathi. Offering everything to God including

Body, Mind, intellect and soul. Finally merging one with God. According to our

scriptures like Vivekachudamani, Adi Shankaracharya explains when we think

everything is God, we will not have any dualities like raga & dvesha, good

& bad, hot & cold, pleasure & pain, mine & yours. Everything is

Govinda mayam. There will not be any attachments, so no bondage. “I’ notion ( I

am this body) will be dropped and the sadaka attains the highest knowledge “Aham Brahmasmi” ,“I am that Brahman, Existence, Consciousness and Total Bliss”.

Baba emphasized this navavidha bhakthi and it’s importance

to Patankar in Chapter 21 of Sri Saibaba Satcharita.

These Nine types of Bhakthi are the paths to reach the Supreme

Lord with this human body . We can take up any type of Bhakthi to reach Him. It

is said that Bhakthi is the easiest of all the paths to reach God and without

Bhakthi all other sadhanas are of no use. We should strive to reach that

Ultimate Bliss through Our Pujya Gurudev Sri Shiridi Saibaba with Great Love

and Bhakthi .

Baba, please forgive me if I unknowingly made any mistake

and correct me.

Jai Sairam ! Happy Dasarah to all of you.

May Baba Bless Us In The Spiritual Growth. Anu

******************************************************* Sairam, Happy Navrathri to you all. Baba spoke of Nav-vidha bhakthi, 9 ways of showing devotion to gods. I invite you to share your ideas on each type Baba mentions each day this would in a way reinforce His teachings and also help us analyse our actions and prayers towards BABA. The Nav Vidha Bhakthi mentioned are (1) Shravana (Hearing); (2) Kirtana (Praying); (3) Smarana (Remembering); (4) Padasevana (resorting to the feet); (5) Archana (Worship); (6) Namaskara (Bowing); (7) Dasya (Service); (8) Sakhyatva (Friendship); (9) Atmanivedana (surrender of the self). I will commence this by writing my thoughts on the first type of Bhakti - Shravana in my next email. Baba bless us and listen to all our prayers.
