Guest guest
Sairam, Happy Raksha bandan to you all. May we always be bound by the thread of love for Baba, and be committed in serving Him through our prayers for others. Praying for those whom we know and love is different to praying for those who we have never met. Know why? There is expectation from those who we know and pray for. We expect them to reciprocate the same from them when we are in need of prayers. This taints our service to Baba. But praying for those who we do not know and pray for them from the depth of our heart, brings forth blessings from Baba not only for us but also the prayers are answered easily. That is why group prayers are powerful and more rewarding. This Raksha Bandan, let us take a pledge that we, the children of Baba would strive to live upto His expecations from us. Let our love for Baba grow many fold. Let us remember that when the whole world turns it Baba on us, Baba is always there enveloping us in His love and always welcoming us with open arms. When we have the blessings of the almighty what else is there for us to desire? Let us bind Baba with love, and feed Him morsels of our devotion. That is all He wants of us. Prayer " BABA on this Raksha Bandan day, please be with me as my brother, friend and guide. Protect me always and guide me away from temptations. Take away my burdens, disappointments, hold me when I feel lonely and rejected. I in turn Baba, pledge to abide by your teachings. Think of you with love. Strive to live up to your expectations. I bind you with this holy thread of love and devotion. I will endeavour to be understanding, forgiving and caring. I do not develop these qualities unless my love for you is true. I seek your forgiveness for my mistakes." Guest guest
Sairam Anitha-ji, your post reminded me of a passage from the Bible and I thought I'll share it with the group. Jesus said " If you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? Even 'sinners' love those who love them. And if you do good to those who are good to you, what credit is that to you? Even 'sinners' do that. And if you lend to those from whom you expect repayment, what credit is that to you? Even 'sinners' lend to 'sinners,' expecting to be repaid in full. But love your enemies, do good to them, and lend to them without expecting to get anything back. Then your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High, because he is kind to the ungrateful and wicked. Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful. " Luke 6:32-36 How difficult do we not find it to bless those who hurt us, who insult us, who cause us harm? I find it difficult..... and even when I pray for them my prayers are usually 'Lord make them realise the wrong they do to me', which too is in a way a selfish prayer. As you said, selfless prayers from which we see no benefit at all, are the prayers which actually please God. I ask Baba to intercede for us so that we may be truely selfless so as to really feel the needs of others as our own and to take them up in prayer to God as we would have taken in prayer our own needs.
