Guest guest
Sairam, Happy Baba's day to you all. Happy Guru vaar!! May Baba help us to do our parayana and remove all our obstacles and listen to our prayers to lessen the burdens of our Sai brothers and Sai Sisters. Next Tuesday is gurupoornima. There is some kind of energy flowing through the groups. I see Emails about gurupoornima, activities at various centres, it is a big festival for Guru worshipers. I am excited about it and keep planning what to do and how to do it have no clue. Today, I open Satcharita seeking Baba's guidance for a message using a Bookmark, which has Baba's aashirvaad photo and His 11 sayings. I am struck by the message got today, it seems like Baba wants to change our thought process and focus on spiritual aspects of His teachings. This is my perception, you might perceive it differently. The thought put in our head is His inspiration alone. Everyday of our life we ask Baba of something. Have we ever thought of giving HIM Something instead? Surprised?? Must be thinking what can we give to the Master of the Universe? Yes, I keep thinking the same too. But His inspiration today, I am stuck with this thought that if Baba were alive and amidst us today like a father, teacher, friend then would we not give Him gifts like we give Dad on "father's day", to teachers on "teachers day" or to friends on "friendship day". So why cannot we give something precious to our Master on "Guru's day - Gurupoornima"? It is not that Baba is in want of expensive clothes, jewels or fancy food to take Him to a resturaunt. A parent would accept anything wth pride given by the child. It might be crappy or silly to others but it has more value than all the treasures in the world. My 11 year old when he was 5yr, he asked me for money to buy food from canteen, instead he saved that money to buy me bead hangings for ears and a bracelet. He presented it to me on mothers day and said he bought that gift for me instead of buying food from canteen, I cried - just as any mother would do. It is more precious than diamonds for me. I wore it with pride to functions and parties, people gave me a funny look. But only I know the true value and now they are in locker along with limited edition cards my older son makes for me with love, they come out on every mother's day and on days when I feel unloved or have a crappy day. Baba the giver is always looking for us - His children, to turn to Him. He seeks us to give our vices (anger, hatred, jealousy, lust, desire, ego) to Him. Are we prepared to give Him those vices? Are we ready to sacrifice some of our time in taming ourselves to please Him? How do we give them to Him - by being conscious of our action Eg thinking of Baba to help when our anger or one of the vices surfaces. It is difficult to think of Baba when we are in high emotional state, but gradual practice gets us there. Baba does not care for the money, He gave that to us. He wants "üs" the pure inner self which we have to cleanse it for Him by following His teachings consciously. For this we have to seek His guidance to understand the inner meaning of His teachings. Let us invoke His grace to guide us when we do parayana to understand His teachings. Let us make a resolution to offer our bad qualities to Him so He can tame us to be better humans. We cannot change overnight, but one simple step at a time will help us overcome our weaknesses. Here is the message for the week.... " Dakshina Mimasa ........ .......... There were also secondary meanings of Dakshina, in many cases, in which Baba did not want any pecuniary amount. To quote two instances - (1) Baba asked Rs.15/- as Dakshina from Pro. G.G.Narke, who replied that he did not have even a pie. Then Baba said, "I know you have no money; but you are reading Yoga-Vashistha. Give Me Dakshina from that." Giving Dakshina in this case meant - `Deriving lessons from the book and lodging them in the heart where Baba resides'. (2) In the second case Baba asked a certain lady (Mrs. R. A. Tarkhad) to give Rs.6/- as Dakshina. The lady felt pained, as she had nothing to give. Then her husband explained to her that Baba wanted six inner enemies (lust, anger, avarice etc.) to be surrendered to Him. Baba agreed with this explanation. It is to be noted, that though Baba collected a lot of money by Dakshina, He would distribute the whole amount the same day, and the next morning He would become a poor Fakir as usual. When Baba took His Mahasamadhi, after receiving thousands and thousands of Rupees as Dakshina for about ten years, He had only a few Rupees in His possession. " Chapter 14 Satcharita. Our Guru is simple, kind and giving, if we really Love HIM then let us give HIM what He is looking for and has been waiting for us to give it to HIM since the time of His avataar on this earth. HE is there to receive it, let us give to HIM and show that We are not "selfish" and always asking from HIM. Let us give back to Him what HE wants from us - Shradda, Saburi, and our naked self devoid of the vices at HIS Holy feet this gurupoornima.
