Yes it is safe. It is best to book a taxi before you leave your country, so that the taxi will be waiting for your flight. If you email the taxi company with your flight details, the taxi will be waiting for you. I travel at least annually and I certainly don't have any problems. The only problem will be that at Bangalore airport, the taxi company will charge you 2500 Rupees when in fact it is 1300 Rupees for a small car or 1700 Rupees for the larger car like a 4 wheel drive "Sumo"- non airconditioned. The other problem to consider is that when you arrive at 3.30am nothing is open, not even the ashram until 4am and you won't get accommodation then.

Sairam members,I want to take a taxi at night from Bangalore to Puttaparthi, because ofmy arrival near 23.50, but some people advice to travel some hourslater. Now i would like to know if someone knows if it´s reallyunsafe (like people who want to steal your baggage or something) ornothing serious. When i was in Parthi, my return to Bangalore startednear 21.30. Somewhere on the way we had to stop(don´t know why). Isaw some people, but later we could continue the trip, so if it´slike that, i may take the taxi at night. Perhaps someone can give moreclarity on this.
