Guest guest
Jaya Guru Datta ! In Guru Gita, it is said that a spiritual aspirant should offer seats, beds, clothes, ornaments, vehicles, and other things that pleases Sadguru. Debe honrar al Guru; debe dedicarle toda su vida. We often observe that most of us follow this custom of visiting Sadguru with our offerings in various forms. But how many of us actually put out of our mind what has been offered at the Holy feet ? Here is an interesting incident that was narrated by Pujya Sri Swamiji before leaving for Switzerland on 11th June 2009 at Bangalore ashrama. Once a devotee offered a saree to Sri Swamiji. Sri Swamiji gave the same saree to another devotee as Prasada. Out of delight, the lady who received the prasada from Swamiji wore the saree immediately and attended the puja. Often Sadguru leelas are so dramatic. It so happened that both these ladies sat next to each other during the puja and the lady who offered the saree noticed that her offering was given away to someone. Being annoyed with this, she started to pester the devotee and said she had offered that saree after performing a vrata and out of love and affection for Swamiji and started weird enquiries like if this lady is a Sumangali (married woman) or not, if her husband is alive or not (to ensure that the saree she offered is not worn by a widow) and so on. After the Puja, during the discourse, Sri Swamiji, who wanted to speak on a different topic, unintentionally started to talk on the topic of Samarpana and offering and said anything that is offered at the holy feet of sadguru is like an offering put in the homa kunda (fire pit). Once ghee is put in the fire, you cannot find the same in it. Similarly offerings made to Sadguru should not be investigated. Don’t think again and again on what you have given Him. With this speech of Sri Swamiji, this devotee realized her mistake. A transformation has taken place in this lady who apolozised the other devotee for her actions and comments. This is a real incident that has taken place in the ashrama. I’m sure we too might have behaved in a similar fashion on our offerings and have been striked straight in the heart by our ‘Silent Teacher’. What deeply touches is His compassion that constantly creates significant positive changes in His Followers and reforms the hearts of devotees with His speeches and actions. May Sri Swamiji bless us all to rise above the ego and show the path of selfless samarpana !! Sri Guru Datta ! Bala
