Namaste Anand,

If the Parad Shivaling is placed on the altar with Puja offered

everyday with incense and ghee lamp, the dark marks on the cloth can

be due to incense smoke or other dust in the room especially if its

near an open window.

If the above is not the case and your Puja Room is always pristine

(like most Indian puja rooms), then I'm sorry to tell you that the

Parad Shivaling is toxic due to the black dust it gives off whenever

you wipe it. Do not touch it with bare hands and don't let children

or those with sensitive skin touch it.

The aforementioned being the case, sometimes even reliable suppliers

may not know about Parad and could only rely on info given them by

their vendors. Unfortunately there are many folks making " imitation "

parad items such as Shivaling all over India. These 'imitations' are

not properly sealed and possibly do not contain the correct

ingredients so with a bit of time, they disintegrate one way or

another. If you feel uncomfortable about the parad you've got, try

to contact your supplier in Delhi to see if they can rectify the

situation.

It is utmost important to obtain parad from suppliers who directly

source them from highly skilled spiritual or holy persons who have

been strictly trained in guru paramparas which take long years of

discipline and learning. Only they know what ingredients to use, the

prayers required and the correct process right up to the completed

result. Their product always come with Authentification Certificates

such as from Rudra Centre whose Parad comes from Sri Panditji in

Jaipur.

Btw as you know, parad is also used in Ayurveda but only by highly

advanced physicians who know the art of mixing parad with a

particular oil or other ingredients passed down from respective

lineages. Consuming parad under the guidance and monitoring of an

adept Ayurvedic physician will have healthy results. Otherwise, the

outcome would be tragic. Its the same principle as having a parad

item without, or with black dust whenever its wiped.

Hope the above info helps.
